Do your part!

Postby SMUPhil » Fri Dec 11, 2009 8:09 am

Hey ponyfans,

We all know that it'd be nice to hear more about our beloved stangs in the media, but remember that a lot of publicity is simple, word-of-mouth stuff. I propose this: any time you're going to the gym or out jogging, or even to cutting the grass, throw your old SMU t-shirt or sweatshirt on. I try to wear an SMU shirt as often as possible when I go running and I get comments all the time.

Let people know that there are still SMU fans alive and kickin' out there!

of course, I already do this. I suspect my neighbors think I only own SMU gear and nothing else, as that's what I'm always wearing when I walk my dog.

Had a new neighbor move in at the end of the summer from New York or somewhere in the northeast. One day as I was walking the dog, he stopped to say hello (neighbor, not the dog) and said "say...what would you do if SMU dropped football?"

This season was good for all of us.

The great d_pony, wanted me to ask everyone, to put your carflags on the week of the game. Mobile advertisemant, it reminds people we're still here! Anytime I'm not working, I have some SMU gear on. You can get some nice shirts to wear to church as well, I have been getting a ton of "how about those Mustangs!" at church this season, sure feels good!

I picked up a nice smu fleece jacket at the bookstore this year and have been wearing it around, and youd be surprised how many people will stop and talk to you about SMU.

I have had my house flag up since August! I also bought a bunch of SMU window stickers, and gave them to any of our drivers at Special Delivery Service, that would put them on their vehicle. Give Mustang Christmas gifts!

I am always wearing S.M.U. gear, and usually get nice comments.

I will put out my SMU flag for the first time. And to all my haters, I do not have a rainbow flag that flies outside my house.

My grandchildren, by their requests, had their school pictures taken in SMU shirts.

You're doing a great job bringing your grandchildren along the right way. Kudos. :)
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

So that's what Kate was talking about the other night when she said she drove by your house?

I think everyone on this message board probably wears their SMU gear proudly, My goal is to see this whole town Yale blue and Harvard red again, not burnt orange and crimson

Wouldn't that be great!?

I've got two UT alum brothers and my dad has entrenched himself in that camp since they graduated 10 years ago. I took him to three games/blvd's this year and now he's asking me where he can pick up some SMU gear. The best thing we have going now is a winning product that is accessible and affordable to anyone who wants it.

Take care of dad's gear at Christmas!
