Re: ESPNDallas.com: SMU to be Jones' last job? This makes sense. It also makes steve o's decision to hire him look even better.

WEST DIVISION CHAMPS 2010
Re: ESPNDallas.com: SMU to be Jones' last job?Better Question, would he go back to Hawaii under the right set of $$$ for everything.
Re: ESPNDallas.com: SMU to be Jones' last job?The coaching industry is a very transient industry. I appreciate what Jones has done for the program but raise your hand is you really believe he is going to see the end of that contract.
Re: ESPNDallas.com: SMU to be Jones' last job?He said "unless the right situation" pops up. With talent like his, the "right situation" will always be out there. I think he'll take another job elsewhere someday.
Derail the Frogs!

Re: ESPNDallas.com: SMU to be Jones' last job?
youre still mad he got the extension. ![]() ![]()
Re: ESPNDallas.com: SMU to be Jones' last job?You gotta believe that he might (like Paul Johnson) want to prove that his offense works at all levels. But that said, perhaps taking the Mustangs from trash heap to perennial CUSA champs might be good enough, and he's still a couple of years away from that. He's also getting to the age where energy is going to start to wane in a couple of years (notwithstanding Joe Pa).
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: ESPNDallas.com: SMU to be Jones' last job?"This will most likely be my last job unless some right situation came
up that would appeal to me" Hate to see June make a statement like that. Why send a mixed message like that, especially right after you sign an extension? What message does that send to potential recruits? It may be just what popped up in his mind or it could be a warning shot fired towards Orsini. Either way don't be talking about "right situations" somewhere else! C-ya @ Milos!
Re: ESPNDallas.com: SMU to be Jones' last job?
How dare you question June Jones' choice of words!
Re: ESPNDallas.com: SMU to be Jones' last job?
I doubt it. They made a last ditch effort to keep him in which (if I remember correctly) the Hawaii governor got involved and assured him that the money would be there for any part of the program that he needed more money, but June said "too late" and signed on at SMU.

I should say...I did it just to prove you wrong again, but I guess it does anyway! CalAllen there are no exceptions..... Dont Mess With Smooo! goes for June or anybody else! Last edited by Insane_Pony_Posse on Mon Dec 14, 2009 5:36 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: ESPNDallas.com: SMU to be Jones' last job? This will be his last coaching job as it takes alot of energy to do what he is doing here and really don't think he has the mental and physical makeup to do this all over again. He will retire in the Islands for certain, and maybe just maybe, he ends up at Hawaii as the AD for his last job.
