KU fans are a tough crowd. I don't think he was the best hire KU could have made, but this seems a little harsh. The guy hasn't even had a chance to hire a moving company yet.

Turner Gill is a fine choice. They had not won it UB for 50 years. They won 5 games in something like 4 years before Coach Gill got there. The other coaches had no recruiting ties to Texas as Coach Gill did. Hr is a good christian man will help the players on and off the field. I wish him the best.

Check out Jason Whitlock's article about Gill. His insight raised questions in my mind, "That’s what’s missing when I’ve watched the Bulls. I’ve never seen a strategic advantage. I never got a sense the Bulls did anything special on offense, defense or special teams."

probably has a lot to do with:

a) there are no Division 1A Football players in or around Buffalo
b) nobody wants to live or go to school at Buffalo

KU fans got their knickers twisted really tight when the Harbaugh rumors got rolling last Friday. After that, any other hire was going to disappoint people. Especially the KU fans who realized we had a football team sometime in late 2007.

Gill wouldn't have been my first choice, but I don't think he's any bigger risk than Skip Holtz, Larry Fedora and a few of the other names KU fans were throwing around.

I think most are finally starting to warm up to him. Looks like he's putting together a nice staff to. We'll see what happens. I don't care who you hire, no one knows how it's going to turn out.

I think he'll do better than any Big 12 North team recruiting Texas

Any payout to MM would be offset by savings in meals paid for by the athletic dept.

I think the buffets went out of business in Lawrence when the fat man arrived. Now they're re-opening. I think there are two schools of thought in Kansas. Why dump a guy who won more games for you than any coach they've had in 25 years for a guy who is not a proven commodity? Definitely a dice roll. I think Gill will do a great job for them and probably keep them in the thick of the B XII north. Now if another Big XII north school (say Colorado) hired Mangino, that would be interesting.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
