The point is, your agenda is "DON'T MESS WITH SMOO! Unless, of course, I happen to agree with you messing with Smoo!"

Not really....but I'll play anyway....YEAH-----> I don't want June to quit SMU & go somewhere else!....and Yes I can still correctly think June Jones makes decisions that are best for SMU and I think his input about the new horses was correct ...even more-so after reading the words of Pete Fleps in the daily campus just last week:
SMU Football Player Pete Fleps: Daily Campus Dec 11, 2009 "Myself and the team included love the new mustangs. They're beautiful animals that symbolize both the strength and character of the university and the football program"
Plus if you read my post...I also stated "it could be a warning shot fired towards Orsini" and who knows maybe June is dropping these kind of hints to pressure Orsini to "get that indoor practice facility!"....which in turn...bigger picture....could be "good for the program" and over-ride any potential downsides to the statement.

Student Senate voted 32-3 that Peruna should be the only mascot at the stadium. Fact is that June played the players against Peruna, telling them that other schools see his size and make fun of us for it. I have it from a player that inferences were made about "our joke of a mascot." When I pointed out to that player that Peruna was voted a top 10 mascot and that the small yet feisty horse represented our school (small, but never backing down from fighting the big boys) well, that player said "yeah, I see your point." When you mess with tradition, you mess with SMU. That's all there is to it. And I agree re: the warning shot idea.

Voted by whom? I often see people on here reference Peruna as a top 10 mascot, but the only backup I have ever been able to find is a ranking on this website: http://www.americasbestonline.com/cmascots.htmAnyone can put up a website ranking mascots. Why is that list given more credence than this list which does not have Peruna in the top 25? http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/6149922

Wuba, Fox Sports' list was not very impartial at all - it simply lists 22 BCS mascots, the ND Leprechaun, and the Army and Air Force mascot. The point was to inspire debate among the powers of college football, not to evaluate the best mascots.

The point is, there was no "vote" and anyone can come up with their own list, none of which would be definitive.

You've been anti-Peruna since the beginning. You could care less if the students voted to not have the geldings at the stadium - they are there, and you support them being there (thus you support the marginalization of the opinion of the student body). In order to justify your support of marginalizing the opinion of the heart and soul of SMU - the students - you attempt to further belittle the mascot that has traditionally served SMU for nearly 80 years.

I am just asking who voted Peruna top 10. It is one of those things that someone says and then it gets a life of its own and before you know everyone is repeating it with no basis in fact.

You should have linked to the page on the site where you found that text, it is clear that a list of travel industry experts provides the definitive list of the top college mascots... Since 1996, America’s Best and Top Ten website has selected the best America has to offer. This site contains America’s top national parks, beaches, vacation spots, country inns, cycling tours, breweries, hiking trails, and more. Each list is composed from previous travel and industry publication’s best of lists and a panel of industry experts. http://www.americasbestonline.net/Also, please find me the post showing I have been anti-Peruna from the beginning? I looked back at my earliest posts on the subject and I do not see anything like that. I see a lot of posts questioning disinformation (like my first post on this thread).

You cannot be serious. You asked who voted, I pointed to a panel that voted.
Further, all of the posts questioning disinformation were only questioning "disinformation" from the Peruna camp, not from the Gelding camp. You questioned, if I remember correctly, that June was responsible for this from the beginning. Funny that he mentioned the geldings as part of an effort at "changing the culture and image" of SMU on a Sirius satellite radio interview (posted about a month ago by PonyPride).
