Injury Status

Postby Mountain Mustang » Mon Dec 14, 2009 9:59 pm

Just wanted to see how the team was looking heading into the game, both from an overall perspective and specifically. As has been discussed before, towards the end of the season both lines seemed pretty banged up, and the run defense struggled to get stops.

From an injury standpoint will we look like the team that finished the season or will the time off help significantly? Are the injuries we've had ones that would keep key players out for Hawaii or should we expect to see a relatively healthy team come Christmas Eve??
Here's to those that wish us well and all the rest can go to hell!!!

I believe we are healthy for the bowl game, stopping the run was not an end of the season or injury issue, Stangs practice 90 % of time on stopping the spread with their 3-4 alignment, running teams have given Stangs trouble all year...this will be interesting since Mason has had 4 weeks to practice against the Pistol

I called a few friends in Dallas. They were pretty split on Sterling Moore — some said he'll play, others said "no way."

However, Bell is back at practice. If he can play, that gives us a more physical run stopper at corner (maybe too physical for his own good - LOL).

Bell can cover, but Moore is the most physical CB on the team, isn't he?

Obviously we want to see the Ponies put their best players on the field, but I'd almost say hold them both out to protect Moore's knee and Bell's noggin for next year. After all those should be our starting CBs in 2010.

I had the same thought (too physical for his own good). If he does play, let's just hope he leads with a shoulder and not his head. Would like to see him back next year.
