EITHER in the MWC w/ Boise St (hello again TCU) and some other CUSA refugees

OR still in the CUSA with La Tech and NTSU.

and that's it.

SMU will never allow NTSU as long as it is in CUSA.

We will blackball them as they think we always have.

Pennsylvania papers are reporting Syracuse, Pitt and Rutgers for Big 10/11 consideration. Joe Paterno has been quoted that Notre Dame was given the chance to join the Big 10 ten years ago and declined. He would oppose any current consideration to re-visit or re-offer to Notre Dame. Obviously, Notre Dame, an independent, is the prize for the Big 10 and precludes the need for other conferences to restructure. Biggest problem is the BCS ridiculous exception standards for acceptance of Notre Dame to BCS bowls and ND's exclusive TV contract with NBC.

saw Orsini a flight back from LaGuardia last Thursday afternoon. I'm sure he was up in NYC negotiating our inclusion in a BCS conference in the future. :o

seriously though, you have to worry about SMU's position in another shift. Even going head to head with Utep for a final spot in another Mountain league would seem uncertain. I don't really think TCU would support us behind the scenes.

If we recall, the 16 team WAC broke up primarily because of the actions of 5 teams: Air Force, BYU, Colorado State, Utah and Wyoming. Any conference configuration that does not have what remains of those five teams playing eachother every year is not going to happen. Accordingly, if Colorado State leaves, Air Force, BYU, Utah and Wyoming will insist they play eachother every year.

And Utah and BYU won't split.

TCU was thrown in there as a joke...no one is serious about them, the analyst who introduced that idea said as much.

Missouri declared their interest in joining the Big Ten-leven today...

lets say they leave the Big 12 for the...Big 12?

who slips in? if we're looking at the 2 years, can we make a serious push to try and grab that spot?

Both Utah and BYU would kill one of their many mothers in order to achieve BCS status. Loyalty does not exist when advancement is on the line. This is the same kind of thinking that made people believe SMU and TCU would always be in the same conference.

Read Stallion's article at the beginning of the thread. The Big 12 South schools will never allow another school to be added in the lower half of the conference, and if they did it would be TCU. Adding another Texas school would disrupt recruiting and force Oklahoma or Oklahoma State into the north. Instead, look for them to attempt to add Colorado State, Utah, or BYU. If the Pac-10 expands, it will be sure to add Colorado and a MWC team, so expect the Big 12 to add yet another team to the north in order to make up for its losses.

The Mountain West Conference will look very different if the Big 10 adds Missouri, and it very well may create a more pleasant future for SMU.

Big 10 presidents, I insist that you include Missouri. To do otherwise would be to invite death and sorrow upon yourselves.
