TO THE RACK with Donatas Rackauskas: Keep showing up

Postby PonyPride » Fri Dec 18, 2009 5:24 am

PonyFans.com is proud to welcome former SMU center Donatas Rackauskas back for another season as our men's basketball expert columnist.

Donatas went to the SMU Basketball Tip-Off dinner, and has applied the main message from the dinner to the start of the Mustangs' 2009-10 season, and says it can serve as the foundation for how this year's team — and its fans — can help the Mustangs succeed this year.

Welcome back, Donatas!

Your columns are always great — keep 'em coming.

Question: Ponies are playing Occidental next, which I think is a Div. III school. Did you ever play any D-III schools? How hard is it to focus while preparing for a game like that?

Good read. Thanks Donatas.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

i don't recall ever playing the D3 school but it is very tough to prepare for a game like that when you're a superior team (and you know it)... I hated it playing teams like that!!!

Seemed like we figured it out. What did we beat them by, almost 30?

The guys played hard against Occidental; probably helped that our west coast guys were jacked to be playing in front of some family/friends...and we are comfortable playing in front of a couple hundred fans
