Bowl fever has swept through the SMU community, striking a chord of pride and excitement through coaches, players and PonyFans. But one group that has taken particular pride in the Mustangs' return to the postseason is the alumni who played for SMU, in both the lean years and glory years. For former players — defensive tackle Allan Adami, quarterback Lance McIlhenny, running back Andrew McKinney and quarterback Jerad Romo — shared their thoughts with PonyFans.com about the team bringing an end to a 25-year bowl drought. http://www.ponyfans.com/features/index.php?id=137Enjoy! Confession time: Former SMU center Steve Reindl was, I think, the first to respond to this, and thanks to an editorial braincramp by yours truly, his answers somehow got omitted. He now is returned to his place as part of our Alumni Roundtable — sorry about that, Steve.
Thanks to all of the alums who took the time to share their thoughts with the PonyFans!

Glad for those guys who had to grind through the tough post-death penalty era... Lets get a win on xmas eve for them! Show them that mustang nation is back and kicking stronger than ever! As a student here at SMU, and growing up hearing about how truly dominant this program was before I was born, makes me excited to be a part of the revival. One of the best moments of my life so far was charging that field after the win against UTEP putting us in place for a bowl. The players are excited, the students are excited, and the alumni are excited! Cannot wait to see what the future holds in my remaining years on the hilltop! Pony Up!

I never really thought about this bowl bid from the perspective of the alums who have played since the last one. Sure, we didn't have a team reach a bowl, but we have had some good players who gave their heart and soul to the program during their years on the Hilltop. This trip to the Hawaii Bowl makes me happy for every alum like Adami (both of them), Reindl, Romo, McKinney, McIlhenny and all of the guys who played before these guys — every former player probably has a little more of a bounce in his step while getting ready to watch the Ponies beat Nevada.
Go SMU!

Great to see former players that are proud of this year's team for its accomplishments. Go Ponies!
