get the city of Dallas behind the program.
create a more disciplined environment.
get the most out of his players.
demand and get respect from everyone?.

Someone that already has this on his resume……….

considered one of the best basketball recruiters SMU has ever had.
knows and loves SMU.
has spent many years at SMU and is now at OU as an assistant.
and did I mention that he can recruit DISD and the inner city better than anyone?

That’s a typical SMU type response. And its not surprising that it comes from someone with old in their name. You guys sure had no problem hiring a football coach with no head coaching experience.

OK- You must be right. He practically covered SMU up with good Dallas kids during his time as an assistant. Let's see- Erion,Sasser, Davis amd Bhop. At least with Erion, Sasser and Davis we only had to use 1 schollie each. The gym was full every night with community support. What was I thinking?
PS- What HC would have come to SMU football? Just because OP is old doesn't make him wrong. I don't know about Tubbs or who else we might be able to attract as a BB HC. I'm not ready to give him the job without seeing who we could get and being convinced that coaching is our problem.
We were able to get a proven HC when we got Dement. The man lives and breathes BB. He was successful elsewhere. He must have forgotten how to coach when he arrived at SMU or could it possibly be that he can't recruit many of the same athletes as his competition? I have advocated the firing of 2 coaches since the DP. Does Shumate's or Cavan's lack of success since leaving SMU indicate that I was wrong about those 2? You guys want to fire everyone all of the time. If we lose, it must be the coach. Just ask Rossley. He sure hasn't been able to find a job with his lack of knowledge of football.

I like Coach Tubbs a lot. But there's not a job open. Kind of a moot discussion at this point, don't you think?
