Our defense will be rested going into the Bowl game. Remember we were pretty beat up on D for the last 4 or 5 games at the end of the season.... Nevada runs a similiar type offense to Tulsa and we have played them pretty good since JJ got here. The key will be slowing down Nevada's QB which may not be easy to say the least. I'm still hopeful. The team has made alot of improvement over the last few weeks. Our offense will also be improved. I think we will not only be impressed with McNeil and Sanders etc., but our QB's increased understanding of the run & shoot as well.

The Top 2 running backs for Nevada are out for this game and the line is still 15-Yikes! Am I missing something?

I'm curious did they make the line before they knew their top 2 rbs would be out. Their qb really is a big threat, but i wonder how they will be able to plug in 2 new guys at rb and beat us by 15. i know our run defense isn't the best, but for the exception of a few big plays against navy we did a pretty good job shutting them down. also nevada is what 117 in pass defense. i think now we stand a chance in the game and i know we should for sure cover the spread

It sounds like the backup RB who will play is a pretty highly regarded prospect. After Marshall, I take little comfort in the fact that our opponent's starting RB is out. Beside, the real lynchpin of the Nevada offense is the QB. Boise State did a decent job of controlling him and won. Whoever wins the battle upfront will win the game.

There O-Line is probably the best we have seen all year and the reason they had 3 1k yard rushers. The difference will be how we handle their size and speed up front... not so much who they hand the ball to.

Beat the wolfpack.
Sports, and all that implies.

One commit out of Vegas, concerning Nevada by 15, was that the SMU QB has thrown alot of INTs.....must have been thinking of the first part of the season.

I spoke with the Reno TV guys on the flight over and they mentioned don't forget that Nevada doesn't have their Defensive Coordinator as he was hired to be the Head coach of Portland State. Both guys with Hawaii backgrounds, including the leading rusher didn't even get to make the game...there is some personal issues there. They don't have a indoor facility so they had to clear 20 inches of snow from the practice field last week just to get some time in....before that they practiced in the BBall area with no ability to throw long, etc and the defense and the offense had to practice seperatly. We should be good...we have seen some pretty good O lines this year and bigger than Nevada as well.

"An assistant of Kelly's for the past 22 years, Quinn oversaw the Bearcats' signature no-huddle spread offense that was responsible for 7.28 yards per play -- second in the nation to Nevada (7.48), but against a much tougher schedule."

Just saw that quote in an ESPN article . Doesnt make me feel any better...

Nothing speaks more to the dignity and intergrity of intercollegite athletics than gambling on college football games. Henry Hill would be so proud.

You realize you didn't have to come into the thread if you are that opposed to it.

Just having a little fun. No offense intended. I'm serious about SMU winning though. I really think we have a better chance than the pundits are giving us.
