I would have liked to see the geldings shipped to France for a Xmas feast for Nicolas Sarkozy. That way someone could have enjoyed them. Maybe send Michael Martin Murphy along to sing "Wildfire" while Sarkozy and his pals chow down.

Yay! Now the whole world who watches can see what SMU really is...a couple of castrated horses that stand around doing nothing. Now it can be a Merry Christmas.

So...did Peruna make it there? Haven't heard anything about Peruna...yet.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Maybe it's me, but I tend to think that a once wild animal that was rescued from death or whatever other fate might have befalled it is a pretty triumphant tale. As to them having been neutered, I'm guessing those of you that so gleefully have fun with it don't advocate spaying and/or neutering your pets? Guess when I get home I need to start talking [deleted] to my kids about our beagle, since he's castrated and all, and pretty much does nothing.

We're playing in a damn bowl game tomorrow, folks. Get over it.

Peruna must have been shipped UPS ground - hopefully to arrive by halftime.

Wow, lighten up sister. We are in a bowl game, allowing us to [deleted] about things other than the dreadful product being displayed on the field. Again with the trying to make an anti-additional mascot argument the same thing as a you-must-hate-beautiful-wild-animals argument. They aren't the same, nor has anyone ever said they were. Stop trying to tie the two together because it just isn't there.

A much more noble cause would be to convert some of that purchased land SMU has sitting around, adopt about 5-10 real mustangs and then let them graze and run around on that patch of grass. Then SMU has a small herd of real Mustangs, they're well taken care of, and it would be incredibly picturesque with them running around next to the W. library. There, then everybody is happy, Madeline has an even better platform for her cause, and SMU becomes an even more beautiful and unique campus. And they stay off the football field.

But whatever keep trying to imagine something that isn't there. I must hate all animals and want them to suffer endlessly simply because I don't think they should be our mascot. Who wants another burger?

while I appreciate the dissertation, I think I'll just head over to Pearl Harbor. Ironic, however, that the last line of my post reads "...get over it," and the first line of yours reads "lighten up." One and the same.

My position simply is, as Sherwood once said, it's the Pickens' $, and they can spend it however they damn well please.

Everybody play nice.

Just an observation...
People in Hawaii should not be posting on ponyfans. Look out your window.

Those who spend time ridiculing the "geldings" obviously have not done much with horses. Few male horses are left ungelded. The only reason for not gelding them is for breeding purposes. Most stallions are not very reliable to be around. Geldings are also usually preferred for working stock over mares because their temperament is usually more even. I have spent a lot of time on horseback, both working around cattle and riding the high country with a rifle. Give me a gelding anytime over a mare or stallion.
