It's always nice to have a friend, DP. Sounds like Castro is man-handling the Middies.

Yes it does. Ironically, I thought Dement should give the Rack a good deal more playing time based on his very aggressive and effective performance against Purdue.

I still think he should use the Rack more. Having two effective centers would be a good thing.

I have been checking in periodically.

Just gave up a 3 - half of Navy's points have been 3's.

Score now 34-22. Timeout.

Man, we're killing the mids 47-24. This is what we need to do in all of our "easy" games. The WAC should be fun this year!

59-37 with about 6 1/2 minutes to go. Navy isn't much. Let's hope the Ponies can bring a solid effort against OSU.

I went to the game and the Ponies won handily, emptied the bench with about 1 minute to go and promptly gave up 8 points to make it look closer than it was.

Having not seen the team this year my impressions were as follows:

Patrick Simpson very smooth, but got into foul trouble and didn't play much the second half.

Isham missed some shots, but also had a nice backdoor dunk and rebounded well. At one point he dribbled up on the break and threw it away. For awhile Dement put Isham at the point on the 3-2 zone and BHop down low and Navy got more second chances at that point.

Eric Castro is a moose. He blocked out well, has a decent shot, but seemed to go into a deep freeze in the second half after he missed a short jumper. Needs to work on his free throw shooting. He got called two times for travelling on pump fakes.

Kris Lowe played well defensively and had some good boards. He was probably the best free throw shooter out there. He was cold from the outside all afternoon.

BHop seemed to have a gait or very slight limp, it might be something he developed last year because he was in pain. But I noticed it. He had some dynamite assists, but was cold from the outside. He got caught several times on a jump double team and turned the ball over. I'm not sure if that was entirely his fault because only one player came out to get the pass from him. Something Dement needs to work on.

Voc Adkins looked very good. Good free throw shooter and handled the ball well. I would not be surprised to see him getting the ball along with Lowe when we are nursing a lead with the other team fouling.

Devon Pearson got a lot of time because Simpson was in foul trouble. He needs to bulk up some and has an awkward shot. He threw up several air balls. But he rebounds well and does hustle.

Brian Miller was cold and didn't play much. He bricked early.

The Rack still needs to add some bulk. He needs to work more on blocking out in the defensive zone. When he was in there Navy got a lot more second chances than when Castro was in there. He has a nice shot though and is a good spot reliever right now.

Demetric Bennett played sparingly and looked pretty good, but had a turnover.

In mop up duty, Ryan Hopkins hit a nice three.
Reay, Dement saw about a minute of time.

The refs had a let them play approach and few fouls were called except on Simpson. A very physical game resulted.

Small crowd, partially because many Navy alums are probably still in Houston. Also, you can't park on campus since the Naval Academy is considered a military base. A long hike to the Hall was required. There were probably 25 Pony fans there. The SMU attendance was kind of disappointing since there are about 500 SMU alums in the DC area. If they had shown up in force there would have been more SMU fans than Navy fans. The Alumni office should be ashamed of themselves for not working to set up something. All in all a sloppy but good win. Hard game to judge the talent on this team.
