He just is not good enough for us to risk the negative vibe - if he wants to come get an education at SMU then great - but i dont think he ever gets on the field in our offense - so why even bother?

Can you even imagine JJ allowing something so high school -ish to be associated with him?

Obviously, the dripping in sarcasm post went screaming over a few folk's heads.

The reference to Woody and Bobby, with the fact that they didn't get the can until there was visual evidence of their abuse, I thought would be a clue.

I will amend my post to include the sac off notification.

Family takes action

The university did not identify the player. But Craig James, a former all-state player at Houston Stratford and All-America running back at SMU who became a broadcaster for ABC and ESPN after his NFL career, issued a statement in which he said the player in question was his son, Adam, a redshirt sophomore from Celina.

“Mr. and Mrs. James took the step with great regret and after consideration and prayer to convey to the Texas Tech administration that their son had been subjected to actions and treatment not consistent with common sense rules for safety and health,” the statement said. “The James family believes this is a matter important to protect all the fine young men involved in Tech football and the university’s reputation for developing and educating young men and women.”

The statement also noted recent efforts by coaches and administrators to recognize the danger of concussions and added, “The entire James family is supportive of the University and looks forward to a resolution of the matter.”

A family spokeswoman said Adam James suffered a concussion during practice Dec. 16 and was examined a day later by a doctor who diagnosed the concussion, said James had an elevated heartbeat and advised him not to practice.

When James arrived at practice, the spokeswoman said, Leach instructed team trainers to find “the darkest possible place, make sure that he cannot sit or lean and post a guard outside.” She said James was taken to an equipment room and placed inside for three hours.

A day later, when James returned to practice, the spokeswoman said Leach instructed trainers to put him in the “darkest, tightest” room possible — an electrical closet. Once again, a guard was posted and James was held inside for three hours.

In both cases, the spokeswoman said, Leach directed obscenities and other insulting remarks toward Adam James.

James informed his parents after both incidents, the spokeswoman said, and the family contacted Tech officials.

Leach was not available for comment, but Lubbock attorney Ted Liggett, who said he has represented the coach for 10 years, denied the allegations.

“Mike’s position is that he has done nothing wrong,” the attorney said. “He loves Lubbock. He loves coaching Texas Tech. He wants to finish his career at Texas Tech.”

The attorney also said he “vehemently disagrees” with the accounts of the incidents given by the James family. He said that after consultation with doctors and trainers, Leach instructed that Adam James should be taken to a building with ice, low light and a trainer outside the building to monitor him.

Liggett also said James was sent to the press box at Jones AT&T Stadium when the team practiced at the stadium.

“It wasn’t a closet,” Liggett said.
Attorney takes issue

According to information obtained by the Chronicle, the doctor who treated James said he diagnosed a mild concussion and made recommendations regarding “level of activity and treatment.”

“The action taken by Mike Leach did nothing to worsen his condition, and there was no damage done by what Mike Leach did. None,” Liggett added.

In addition, Liggett said Craig James “attempted to use his influence to get his son playing time when he can’t earn it himself.” Adam James had 17 catches this season for 154 yards and a touchdown.

A series of e-mails and statements obtained by the Chronicle included praise for Leach and criticism of Adam James’ talent, attitude and work ethic, including the suggestion the player was trying to “get back” at coaches for lack of playing time.

Among those identified as writing the e-mails were former Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell, former Tech wide receiver Eric Morris, assistant coach Lincoln Riley and former assistant coach Dana Holgerson, now the offensive coordinator at the University of Houston.

Craig James had been scheduled to be part of ESPN’s team for the game but has been removed from the broadcast, an ESPN spokeswoman said. He will broadcast the Holiday Bowl from San Diego as scheduled Wednesday.

Or Leach placed the kid in a shed for 3 hours to protect his sensitive eyes due to his concussion. Fans on a home team message board will believe what they want to believe. Its herd mentality.

This just further proves how big an idiot Mike Leach is. It also may be evidence that he thinks he can do whatever he wants to. Who knows if the guy gets fired for this or not, but there should definitely be some kind of severe penalty handed down by the NCAA, not just from Tech.

no it should just be a reprimand-he wasn't placed in a damgerous situation-Leach just proved he is an ASS-clown who has hurt his own program. But Leach may just be stubborn enough to get fired for a misdemeanor
