On the subject of "dont or wont take JUCOs", where do you think we originally got Pharis from? As I recall, he came from Westark CC, he originally committed to Texas Tech, but Tech pulled their offer when Knight was hired.

This was the point I think a few people (and I wont name names) missed. SMU got a JC player, who now looks like he could have been helpful to the program, but instead he never played in his one year here, and then got run off so his scholarship could be used to sign..... Alex Craft? Its a crazy world out there, and you never know how things wiill turn out. Somebody oughta sell tickets.

Arkansas once never worried about academic standards in basketball. That has changed. Heath now is required to graduate at least one player every other year. This high academic standard has placed a huge barrier to Arkansas recruiting in basketball. It is rumored that the football team will have to have at least one a conviction free year (or less than 2 felony indictments) every 5 years imposed on the football program as well. This too will create problems for the Razorbacks.

Hey Ponyte:

What did you think about the comment that now that Nutt has a long term deal, he will probably start cracking down on the kids when they get in trouble. Since he won't be fired for a losing season he can now be a strong father figure and show some discipline. I stopped laughing after 2 days from hearing that.

Mrydel,
The sentiments around my part of Ark are that folks are tired of the overall lack of discipline from Nutt. Has to do with plenty of personal fouls (that one may argue cost Ark a chance or two to win a few games). Nutt’s bowl record is also a bone of contention with many folks. And folks are really tired of the arrest record.

Soooo, to answer your question, I think Nutt would have hauled it to NU if he had lost the Indy Bowl (folks have reached their Friedlich limited on bowl loses). Nutt will not be a strict disciplinarian either. His recruits are not the types that respond to discipline. Semi lawlessness is acceptable in Fayetteville as long as one wins. He is overall a near deity in the state and really doesn't have to do that much to maintain that status. Now that Richardson is gone, Nutt is the only coach of note left in the state. So why change his current ‘winning’ formula and discipline his players?
