I also find it amusing that Tech fans are referring to this as their "death penalty".

Gimme a break. We have the market cornered on that one.

some of you got facts wrong-James was not cleared to resume practice. A Texas Tech doctor said something to the effect that putting him in a dark shed for 3 hours would not hurt his condition. There is so much garbage being thrown at James I suggest you take all of it with a grain of salt. They tried to destroy the kid reputation when in fact he was simply used as a scapegoat in a power struggle between Tech and Leach.

I can go along with that. I am just going off personal experience with players like James and how he is being portrayed. I don't have any personal experience with a university administration and quirky football coach being at odds with each other for seemingly no good reason.

Sonny Dykes just threw his hat in the Texas Tech ring, saying he would take less money so Tech could hire best DC money could buy.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Who's Next at Tech

Postby Boston Pony » Wed Dec 30, 2009 4:06 pm

Assuming that you need a Leach Disciple to 'hit the road' running, who is it? If it's the interim HC, his background seems to be defense. Without an OC, there doesn't seem to be anyone to take the spot.

And the players start taking sides. DT Chris Perry just told ESPN it was great Leach was fired and sided with James.

Gus Malzahn would have a great opportunity at Tech. I would not be happy to see him go there.

I know I'll get dog piled here but I think Craig James is a DB. And anyone who has played organized sports has played with a guy who is "reportedly" like his son. Lazy, disrespectful, entitled and a cancer. From the emails released by CBSSportsline http://dennis-dodd.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/6270202/19238949, it sounds like Leach was THE ONLY guy who wanted Adam James there. And now AJ got him fired.

Pretty screwed up if you ask me.

Maybe he can transfer to UT and take a crack at them.

I would rather have him go to tcu.

I am only sad for one reason that the Leach got fired, I was really looking forward to June beating that fat pirate in Lubbock one of these days. It will still be sweet when we do beat them, but just not the same.

I think all of this falls on Leach. I think this may have just been the straw that broke the camel's back, and he didn't help himself by filing a temp restraining order.

It seems to me that Leach has become almost like Mr Kurtz, of James Conrad's Heart of Darkness. If you haven't read that, then think Marlon Brando's character in Apocalypse Now. Leach is out on this "island" in Lubbock, where he is the king of that whole area because nothing else is around. He basically feels like he can do and say whatever he wants, and as long as his football program is winning, it'll be tolerated.

Mike Leach's own actions were bound to be his downfall, but I am surprised that it happened this soon. I figured it might be a few more years.

As I said in another post, I suspect the other side of the story is that Leach was trying to run James off to get his schollie and probably put James into high contact drills which would put him in harms way of getting injured. Head injuries are weird things. Brian Pothier of the Capitals didn't recover from his concussion for a year and a half until he went to his eye doctor who determined that his headaches were vision related. Clinton Portis was shelved for the season by the Redskins because of a concussion. So, if the player complains that he is still symptomatic, you get another MRI, get another Petscan, send him to the eye doctor, you don't punish him even if he is a slacker, unless you are trying to get him to quit in the first place. Leach made this bed and now he's going to have to lie in it. As far as Craig James is concerned, he praised SMU in the last SMU broadcast that he did, so he's trying to be a good alum. And they still refer to him as an SMU alum whether he wants them to or not. He's a Mustang, he's an alum. Just like Jeff Skilling and Laura Bush. You may not like them, but they're still one of ours. Let's focus on trashing Leach and illiterate Sand Aggies.
