Ponies Win!

Postby D » Tue Jan 06, 2004 8:59 pm

Ponies win in a game that was a lot closer than it should have been. The starters scored all the points with everyone almost reaching double figures (lowe with 9). Good big buckets down the stretch after they had cut it to 2 with a couple of minutes left. Castro and Simpson had double doubles while Hop had 17 (I think).

you could tell early on that the starters were all going to need to score double figures to win this one. Only 28 minutes from the bench tonight and no points/3 rebounds. No way we are going to compete in this league without more help off the bench. For now, any win is a good win. Tough road trip coming up. Would be good to steal a win at either Fresno or Nevada.

Meanwhile, another pathetic crowd (less than 3k?). Long live the 1,500!!!

schools not back, rush is on, Tulsa is off year and brings nobody= 2,000 fans. Hawaii will bring more people. We need to split our away game, come back and win two at home - getting a high spot in the tourny is our only shot at doing something.

You're right - it was closer than it should have been. I don't see the propensity to really step on a team's collective throat when we've got 'em down. We need a little bloodthirstiness in our program.

students aren't back? RUSH is on and there aren't any classes to discourage students' attendance. There should have been large groups of fratty/sorority boys/girls in attendance all wearing their (advertising) shirts. At least that's the way it was in my days at SMU. The spirit left this campus with the death penalty. How do we get it back???

I will never understand whining about attendance. As if by somehow crying about it will bring the masses to our door.

Here in the boondocks we only get a few film highlights of the SMU game on cable TV from the Dallas stations. And the state edition of the DMN is a day late on night game stories. Even checking the online edition of the papers gives just brief reports. So your comments about each game are really helpful to those of us who live out of town. Keep up the chatter. :thumbupcool:

CP-
Rush was going on yes, right DURING the game. I believe the fraternity rush rounds started at 7 that night. Boo whoever scheduled that but theres no real way to just skip out and go over to the game. I think they should make it an event of rush week, just like the first football game is usually part of First Weekend. Just my thoughts, but the current system is what you get when pikes run the show (IFC).
