I know we've gone over this rule ad nauseum but, one last time, a player does NOT have to have a release to transfer AND get financial aid, right? Adam could also walk-on here at SMU and it wouldn't be a problem. I know this is a rumor that's been circulating but I highly doubt this was Adam's motivation for causing a stir. So Learch considers AJ a slacker but won't let him transfer to a school he will play against? I hope all the SMU slackers that were kicked off the team by JJ transfer to TTU with a full scholarship.
Some of these TTU fans and sports writers lack common sense.
If I read prior posts correctly, when SMU was 1-11, AJ wasn't even offered a scholarship to SMU. On that note why would we give away a scholarship to him now when we are a good team? Lastly he comes with too much baggage no matter where he goes. I do believe, for his own safety he’ll have to leave TTU. Some idiot may harm the kid. His college football playing days are over. A coach would have to be foolish to take him on and all the media that would disrupt any team.

Thank you for your first post rehashing something that has already been thoroughly debunked. First of all, the old regime didn't want Adam James to begin with, and that was in one of their worst recruiting classes. It is highly unlikely that the current regime, which covets speed above all else has any interest in the kid. second of all, the kid has been at Tech three years and would have to sit out one, so SMU would have him only for one year, which Leach could have (and would have) prevented anyway since Tech and SMU play that year.

Most importantly, at least one fishwrap has looked into this and found it to be baseless internet speculation. I tmay be convenient to look for outside forces to blame for Tech's problems, but the blame lies squarely with Tech's administration.

there has been so much manufactured misinformation by people who weren't even alive when some of the events took place. Yesterday Mike Vascik on the Ticket claimed that a source told him that Craig James had been committed to a national powerhouse until late in his recruiting season and then suddenly switched to SMU and was seen driving a new sports car after committing to SMU. I still think there is more to this and that more might surface---I'm talking about Leach and his actions. I saw Adam James play in a few high school games and I thought that the only school he would go to would be SMU, because I felt we would take him simply because of Craig (in other words, he wasn't a stand out player, in my opinion). I was surprised when he went to TT. The other thing is if he truly didn't show up to classes at TT and had a low GPA, does he have the grades to get into SMU? I agree that it will be hard for him to be part of any team at this point and if I were the coach---anywhere---I wouldn't want to subject my program to any of this. There are always 2 sides to every story, but I just think ML is a moron and AJ is a 20 year old wanna-be.
