I think that next year and for a year or two more JJ will set the goal to be the Liberty Bowl instead of the Hawaii Bowl. After a conference title or two, the goal will be raised to a BCS bowl. The players will need to feel that the goal is reasonable for it to work as a motivational tool.

Would you please stop making so much sense

I really wouldn't mind SMU making it to another Hawaii Bowl to help with the attendance, though. A matchup with Hawaii vs. SMU would *really* bring a huge crowd...I would think that they would sell out all 50,000 seats.

We were going to Hawaii even if we would have won the conference. It was in the works to be done. The national publicity we received was what JJ was aiming for and he got it.

The publicity because of the timing of the Bowl game on Christmas Eve ( was only game on TV and no viewing competition from the' watered down' effect when all the other Bowls are on every other channel) and where it was played, JJ's Homecoming, etc. was brilliant. He/we got exactly what was desired and it will come back to us in spades in many area's.

Agreed.
I hope we don't pull the "we don't want to go to Memphis" schtick again.

Yeah, playing Arkansas on Jan. 2 would have drawn no national publicity.
We all know why we went to Hawaii.

We would have gotten lost in the bowl games just like ECU and ARK are now. But I know you would love to continue to wrote negative articles about JJ next year if it happens again.

We were no way ready to play SEC Arkansas on National TV this year is the real point, WAC Nevada in Hawaii was the perfect storm for us. Arkansas would have humbled us on ESPN and would have damaged us publicity-wise. We were so lucky to get Nevada this year. When we have some seasoning and some real depth in the next few years then we can compete with the big boys.

Commentators are saying that it is so cold that it is affecting the game. With the offense we have Hawaii is the best place(even if we win cusa) that is unless we gp to a BCS.

We couldn't have a wtitten a more perfect scenario, as to what happened Christmas Eve. I know it's a long shot, but, mabey there is a small possibility, that June Jones knows what he is doing
