The winner of the SMU-Tech game will likely get votes. They MIGHT show up at #25.

Maybe.

2010 will likely be about the same as 2009. Unless Tech is in complete disarray and we smoke them, we'll not get anywhere close to top 25. 2011 is a better chance.

ONLY way we even sniff it is by beating Tech, Wash St, & TCU, then winning a few conference games and being about 7-0 mid season.

but i wouldn't count on it.

first goal to focus on should be winning our conference.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Should see continued improvement on offense.

Defensively, the loss of Chase and Rock will be killers. Depth on the d-line should continue to grow. If D Bell doesn't make it back, we will lack depth at corner. I like the youth at LB, but it will be very difficult to replace what Chase did for us. Saftey is another big hole that needs to be filled.

If we get D Bell back, and either Williams or Reed step up as major players at LB and we have a JC at saftey, then I think we could push top 25 and for the conference title. Otherwise, I think next year will be very similar to this year (not complaining).

Bordano would probably be a positive factor for our LB corp , but hopefully we can afford to redshirt him.

The Leach drama aside, TT has a lot of talent and we are playing them on the road. By next season they will have a new coach and things should be settled down for them (at least outside of the courtroom). That will be a tough one to win. A victory at Tech though, following the bowl game smackdown this year, would clearly send a statement. If we beat Tech AND TCU, then yes I think we would be voted somewhere in the top 25. Do I see that happening. . .no.

If the 2010 Conf-USA product is similar to 2009, then I think we have a shot at playing in the conference championship game. Some of that depends on whether Shawnbrey returns and how good the receiving corps is after losing Sanders (that means you, Darius Johnson).

Of course losing Sanders will hurt, but I think people are forgetting the game Aldrick Robinson had in Hawaii, 9 Receptions for 176 yards. Terrence Wilkerson caught everything that came his way and Beasley Stepped up when needed. Darius Johnson needs to find his place in the rotation and make plays, which I have no doubt he can do. The Receiving Corp is not my concern, I am just hoping to see Shawnbrey back, and someone to step up at safety to fill in for rock and make an impact. I think Taylor Reed can step into Chase's spot and we can be alright, J.G. Davis will be making an impact at LB as well, along with Youri Yenga. I think the top 25 could be a possibility but a lot of things would need to go our way, including the TT and TCU game.

TCU will probably start out next year ranked in the top five. Beating them would undoubtedly be awesome and get us ranked pretty quickly, but even losing to a top five would not necessarily prevent us from being ranked top 25 depending on what else we accomplish during the year. I'm not saying we will be top 25 next year, but it is not impossible.

It would be oh so sweet if we could eek out a win over the froggies next year. Oh to dream... :)

I agree, but I don't see any way we beat TCU next year.

Not if we lose to TT in the first game.

If we can beat TT (which I believe is now possible) and play TCU close I believe we would at least be getting a lot of votes.

GO PONIES!!!

I certainly wouldn't think about top 25 going into next year, but let's win 11 games and see where SMU finishes the 2010 season. An 11-3 season, CUSA champs and a win over a SEC school in the Liberty Bowl might get it done.
