I understand that the mustangs performed poorly in front of a national audience in okc, and I apologize if I'm beating a dead (cow), but why can't SMU manage to get at least local television coverage of either basketball or football? Is there anything in the works? Is it the lack of fan- base/viewers? It seems like the DFW area could benefit from a TV deal that brings both SMU and even TCU a shared amount of games on a network like Fox Sports or even local UPN. Its unfortunate that the WAC is so spread out, because I am aware that Fox Sports Bay Area, for example, broadcasts big Pac-10 games all the time even when it is two non- bay area teams playing. For this reason I look forward to C-USA and hope for some sort of local TV coverage.

TBell,

I mentioned this during FB season, so it is probably time to bring it up again.

The Marketing Dept is working on the selection of a company to deliver video broadcasts of both football and basketball via the Net. They expect to have the program in place for next year to be called "SMU TV".

This appears to be the way many programs are going. You get many more "appearances" at a relatively low cost. When you are selected to be on traditional TV, there is no webcast.

Baylor is already doing this, and I watched the Baylor-SMU basketball game on the web for $6.95. The cost per game is cheaper if you buy a season ticket. The quality was very good...almost TV level, but that may have been assisted by my DSL connection.

The focus of the program, I believe, will be on away games, but I am less clear on this aspect of it.

As for me, I am really looking forward to it; I just don't want it to negatively affect butts in seats. If you offer the program properly, I believe you can increase exposure, revenue and butts in seats.

Yeah I watched the Baylor - SMU game online aswell. I think its cool that the net thing is in the works, I remember your post a while back, it is just frustrating that there is not "Fox Sports Metroplex" or "Fox Sports DFW." Fox Sports Southwest is just TOO HUGE. Look forward to any type of progress though, internet is better than nothin'.
