Man, I disagree. You only have to go back to the Sasser/Davis/Elsey/Han c ock years to see pretty good support from the student body.

those teams had awful support considering how entertaining the WAC 16 was. It was bad in '93 when we won the SWC. Only vibe around campus would be to see Arkansas, much like Memphis these past few. As Charleston said, the DP changed the student body. They didn't come to SMU w/expectations of seeing and supporting quality revenues. Instead, they'd call their bookie Saturday morning, bet games, attend a pre game frat party, never make it to our game. If they did, they'd wear ties and their counterparts would stink of perfume. the school was always chock full of rich [deleted], but it became so much worse when they actually cared more about other old SWC teams then their own school.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

Well we can hope for better crowdsand we may never be satisfied, but it really doesnt take too much to be a loud crowd at Moody with the low ceiling and accoustics such as it is. If we could get 4-5,000 consistantly at the games at least Moody sounds like a much bigger crowd, if that can at least placate us. I remember going to the legendary Dallas Mavericks Playoff game called Moody Madness in 1984 where the crowd was so loud it was deafening. The decible level was off the chart. Of course THAT was a sellout but we can play off the loudness with the smaller crowds we may always have.
