That is a slap in the face not to have JJ on that alleged unofficial list.

I'm not suggesting Jones is a valid candidate. I'm just saying he may not be now but these searches take odd twists and turns.

Just don't assume anything.

I do not think Tech wants to pay the money to get a June Jones. It is going to cost them enough cash just to make the Pirate go away. I think they will hire McNeil just to keep the coaching staff in place and to hang on to the recruits that have committed to Tech. Also, they will not have to pay McNeil the kind of money it would take to hire Tuberville or someone with HC experience.
The real problem with Tech Athletics is Gerald Myers.

one can tell that Tech is small time: where's the search firm?

Maybe they can get Herman Frazier to be a search consultant

As with most things- you get what you pay for. Go cheap and take a big chance. Pay more and your risk is less. I doubt that McNeil will have the same success as Leach did and it will probably show in future recruiting classes. IMO aTuberville or Bowden would have a better chance of success than McNeil.

Then I would suggest Tech go with McNeil. 8) :)
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

If I am Tech, I think I ask Boise State to talk to Chris Peterson. The guy can coach and his team always seem prepared for big games, just ask Oklahoma, Oregon, TCU.

Peterson has turned down a lot of opportunities-don't think he'd jump for Tech.

Wonder if Tech would pay enough to pry Patterson away from Frog High. I know, he just signed an extension, but we all know that can be bought out. I gather Patterson likes Fort Worthless, so he might well like Lubbock, too, and as much as he likes Frog High, maybe the allure of taking on the big 12 would appeal to him?

I know TCU isn't riding a winning streak like SMU is ( :D ), but I sure would like to see TCU lose Patterson. I don't like him much, because of where he is, but it appears he's a damn good coach.

Patterson is only a good defensive coach period (he showed that last night). And why does everyone think it will cost a lot of money to get Tuberville when he does not have a job and no one else wanted him?

I don't think TT will be shelling out the cash it takes to bring in a Patterson or anyone else with a big name that's currently employed. remember, part of the problem was that GM thought they were paying mike leach too much.

Gerald Myers is still confused to this day, why he can't get a top notch coach for 100K. Why back in his day that was goooooood money.
