Re: Any rumors of losing a recruit?
Is it breach of intellectual property rights for Rivals or any of the other premium sites to use info that is already on this board?

Oh boy, here we go again.....

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

no because it is open to the public and not confidential. You guys realize that Rivals SELLS information to news organizations such as the DMN-once Rivals authorizes such information to be "published" to the public the information loses its condidential/protected status-

Re: Any rumors of losing a recruit?
Everything we write, the video we shoot and the images we post are copyrighted Southwest Sport Media Group. But it's not like anybody pays that much attention. We leak a bunch of stuff on this board, often through posters who we enlist to do so for us, only to see it appear in The Dallas Morning News or elsewhere a few days (sometimes only hours or minutes) later.
We don't get our panties in too much of a twist over it though. While making a living doing this would great, and maybe an option somewhere down the road, our first goal is to promote SMU Athletics. And in that spirit, the more stuff we get out there, even if it gets ripped off, is good for the program. We just try not to whine about it too much.

difference between protecting a copyrighted story and reporting information that has reached the public domain

Re: Any rumors of losing a recruit?
when has their been info on this site? Seems like just a message board w/solid enough banter.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones
