Where Have All the Archie Manning's Gone?

Postby ontheedgeofmyseat » Fri Jan 08, 2010 11:17 am

..senior year..broken arm..LSU game...plays in this BIG game with a cast on.."rub some dirt on it boy and get back in there.." There will always be a bit of a "don't want to hurt his NFL chances" in me as it relates to Colt last night. Numerous interviews, if you listened closely and "read between the lines", sounded like that "let's protect Colt's draft status" was one, not the main, but one of the reasons why he was not back in there...but hey, I still think Tiger Woods was not as badly hurt in the U S Open as he claimed..guess I am just wired that way. I still think SMU could have hung with Bama last night...GO Ponies!!

Ever tried to throw a football with a numb arm? It would have been a disaster if McCoy returned.

Colt had the ball and was going to pass it to his dad as a slew of doctors and trainers watched closely. How many times had these two thrown a football back and forth, from their yard in little Tuscola, Texas, to the practice fields of Jim Ned High School, where the dad was the coach and the son was the star? “Millions,” Colt said. “Millions of times.”

So Colt gripped the ball, stared at his dad and thought, “It’s just a simple throw.” He threw. The ball went soft and wide. Everyone grimaced. “Give it to me again,” Colt demanded. Brad got the ball and gave it back to his son. The next throw was the same, bouncing harmlessly away. “Give it to me again,” Colt said, again. Brad did.

It was the same. It was over. Colt couldn’t throw it 7 yards to his own father. “My arm was dead,” he said. The dad hugged his son. The son broke down and cried.

I believe the Colt story that he was hurt and could not return.

And for the record...the all tough Archie Manning was playing for what...a $100,000 a year paycheck???

Colt is staring down a $50M NFL contract....once again....tell me again what YOU would do in that situation????? would you really jeopardize a $50M future?

Wish that would have never happened. I think UT could have beaten them.
