I'd be very comfortable pulling his starters role, moving Clink in, and see what he's got. We have 3 or 4 more wins, if McCoy shows up at all. This isn't a matter of Doh brow beating Paul, cause if anything, they are massaging a fragile ego right now. They know they need him, and they know he's so far in his own head, that he needs some tlc. It's as strange a regression as I've ever seen.
Good take on McCoy. After 13 games I've seen enough of McCoy for a while. Having said that, I can understand the staff wanting to give him a chance to play through his problems, whatever they are. Give him & Faye a couple of DNP's & see how they respond. At this point, I want to see what guys like Clink, Nyakundi & Otis can do on a regular basis. Team might just surprise everyone & play better as a unit without them.
i'm really beginning to believe in addition by subtraction. This team needs chemistry, heart, and toughness more then actual talent right now

Even if the players develope they never are able to show it on the court because they are beaten down by Doh. He takes it out of them and they do not have a desier to play their best. That is the most frustrating thing to me. The most improtant thing in coaching is leadership. Coaches should be able to get their players to play to 100% of their ability no matter what that ability is. It seems to me the longer a player is around Doh the less he will play to his ability. Case in point McCoy.

I've been critical at times regarding Dohs coaching but this is on McCoy. The thing that's so strange about this situation is he's lost confidence in all aspects of his game. I've played with guys that went into a shooting slump, but they still passed well, made good court decisions, played d, etc. McCoy has made some of the worst passes I have seen @ Moody in a long time. My advice to the guys on the bench & the fans sitting courtside, invest in a football helmet or a catchers mask. Dudes dangerous.

McCoy did have some ugly turnovers against UTEP - the kind of passes that just scream "brain dead". Looks like he's lost his focus and on a couple of occasions when fed the ball for some wide open threes, he hesitated before launching some really ugly shots that weren't even close. He needs to work with the psychologist because this looks like a huge mental issue.
We know from what we saw last year that McCoy is much more talented than what he is currently showing.
If he really just doesn't want to be here...let him go, coach.

He could have left and still can. Here's the question, who wants a 5'10 kid that can't shoot, run point, or be a lockdown defender? Did anyone ever think he didn't get many sniffs when he asked around at big time schools? Believe me, I'm not trying to bash McCoy, but there are a few realities of his game that have come clear. He had solid offers late Spring his senior year. Most kids, w/any degree of skill, get offers that are above their heads late senior year. Before all that, he was being looked at by WCC schools, Pepperdine etc. That said, he's far better offensively then we've seen. He doesn't even try to get to the rack anymore, which is supposed to be his wheelhouse.

possibly, but it doesn't change the fact he couldn't handle the press yesterday, as our primary PG. Doesn't change the fact that the whole O is predicated around he and Will getting in the paint where he should thrive, but isn't. Everything is set up to play to his strengths, yet he's sorta flailing. Not everything is easily explained, cause I know mcCoy has many people scratching their heads

It sounds like he didn't work on his game much in the off season in Oregon....he had a banner frosh year and if he worked on his game, especially his weaknesses like ball handling during the off season especially here in Dallas with better competition he could be the real deal in this his Sophomore season. It seems he may have read his press clippings and stayed status quo....big man in Portland during the summer is now a small man in Dallas during the season.....maybe just a sophomore slump that makes him realize what he needs to work on after this season and prove us all wrong. Maybe stay out of the 'Tat' shops and spend more time on the court...

Why would a coach be expected to improve a player? It's not like that is a coach's job or anything...

funny, I always thought the best way to improve was practice and work on weaknesses.
