Not to mention far more in-depth game previews and feature stories than can be found anywhere else.

By the way, Fields and Johnson aren't leaving.

Do you not ever go to the home page (http://www.PonyFans.com) and read any of the feature stories ( http://www.ponyfans.com/features/list.php) written by Ponyfan's PonyPride (the original PonyPride)? Have you never read any of the recruiting roundups provided after signing day or any of the opposing team previews provide before each game? If all you do here is read the message board banter then you are not taking advantage of the SMU athletics information available on this site.

I may have miscounted, but there are 7 pieces of content since Thanksgiving, features or otherwise, and no recruiting. As for the recruiting roundups on signing day, I'll wait on till Feb to pass judgement, but the hoops signing day coverage was non-existent, and we have one of the best classes in CUSA, probably better then the football class. Like I said, I'm not seeing it. Not a shot, b/c this isn't a pay site, it's a glorified message board, and it does that nicely. For that alone, it's a valuable forum.

OK PonyDoh, my post was in response to your post where you said "when has their been info on this site? Seems like just a message board w/solid enough banter." PonyFans.com does provide relevant information...but I never said PF.com produces more stories than are produced by the sites you have to pay to get their stories. Since the guys that operate this site have other jobs, putting out stories once a week is not too bad considering the research and interviews that have to be done to get the stories.

As for the recruiting info you are looking for, the webmaster already addressed that issue when he posted on another thread "Being that the ownership and management of PonyFans.com is comprised of SMU grads has its pros and cons. On the plus side, our writers' knowledge of SMU sports is unmatched. On the con side, we have to be careful about contacting recruits (because of our alumni status). So to an extent, we leave that niche to the pay sites. The pay sites are run by SMU outsiders, so they don't have to concern themselves with NCAA rules prohibiting contact by alumni."

As for a round up on basketball recruits, I don't know for sure, but my guess would be that due to their limited time available a decision was made to spend their time on gathering all the info they can on the 22+ football recruits only. Remember, the work they do is a labor of love and not a living.

Ponyfans is by far the best source of SMU athletic info..not even close....

rivals is a nice secondary site but I could care less if it goes away...

I don't believe ponyfans has the database to do recruiting like Scout or Rivals so they would not be as effective. That is unless they did like the fiestyfrog guy ay Killerfrogs does and reads Rivals and rewords stuff to make it look like he got the info. Also the guys at Rivals and Scout have other fulltime jobs as well. We need those recruitng sites to contact the recruits and show them the SMU media attention. Believe me our football coaches know the value of have recruiting sites. I knoiw some on this board my not like it but they are valueable for our future recruiting efforts. The recruiting roundup is general info we already know but we need to support ponyfans and the recruiting sites. The recruiting sites help our recruiting efforts in more ways than we will ever find out.

I don't think anyone dislikes having the rivals board.

Most are just tired of the guys on ponyfans that do nothing but talk about how great rivals is and that ponyfans sucks...

well Rivals just broke some major SMU news on its message board-as usual they get the information first-actually I just realized I was the first to break the rumor on SMU sites

LOL...both Scout and Rivals are well worth the money and you get great information from both and the guys on ponyfans including Stallion are amazing on what they add and the time that some these guys put into Ponyfans...its all good....you can agree or disagree with everyone and no one if you like...
