I have met Leach. He was nice, very considerate. But I came away thinking, nice guy but his mind was somewhere else.

Mack is UT. Mack sucks.

I am never impressed by the coaches who spend the whole game yelling at officials the way Brown does.

Coaches like Jim Tressel, Saban, Ferentz, Pete Carroll, June Jones, and Paul Johnson are concerned with the next play. They will express their displeasure with a call, but then their focus returns to coach ing the game.

I suspect Brown's talent is finding good coordinators and schmoozing alumni. The wins and the $5 million mean that that's a pretty good formula.

The day Greg Davis is ever thought of as a good coordinator will be a sad one for this college football fan...

Mack is the epitome of UT arrogance. I have always called him Mr. February since they always recruit well but don't win as many as they should. UT fans have always had the air that they are entitled. Having said that, with all UT has going for it (good school, best facilities, support, money, Austin, tradition, etc.), they shouldn't lose a game in ANY sport.

Of course, there are no other schools that can be said about, right?

Last time I looked, Notre Dame, Alabama, Oklahoma, USC and Ohio State all had more national championships in football than Texas. Plenty of others...Michigan, Florida, Miami, etc...all have storied football programs...so it's not like the Whorns have no competition.

In Texas's defense, what other school can claim a Baseball Championship, football runner up and basketball program ranked #2? Hard to argue they haven't put it all together down there in Austin.

Plus Mack Brown does have the best record of all BCS schools in the last 9 or so years so top recruiting does lead to top winning percentage. It really isn't even true that he has the top recruiting classes in the Nation-that distinction belongs to USC and Florida and in the most recent 3 years or so Alabama. Alabama had the best classes in the nation in 2008 and 2009 which have produced immediate results including Mark Ingram, Julio Jones and Trent Richardson aka The Alabama Offense. Texas has been consistently finishing about 5th in recruiting in recent years which does put them in an elite field but not the best

Which begs the question why was Mack Daddy Brown in a National Championship Game forced four minutes into the first quarter to send in a freshman QB? Doesn't Texas year in and year out sign many of the top players/QB's in the country? Stallion often has said how much of a risk June Jones took not having enough experienced quarterbacks at SMU....Stallion spoke glowingly how Texas Tech and so many other schools have "the QB in training" and never need to play freshman QBs....well gosh what happened with Mack Brown who basisally has the "pick of the litter" but yet has no one ready to send into a National Championship game except a freshman QB? Sure Gilbert was a highly touted recruit and looked ok, but still Mack Brown had no one else better prepared for a National Championship game than a true freshman?

Jevan Sneed transfered to Ole Miss three years ago, and Childs moved to receiver, but, I had to wonder the same thing.

Thats part of the game....people transfer, ect....all schools face those challenges....it's just hard to fathom how Texas with all their advantages..all their top recruits, ect... has no one else but a true freshman QB to throw into a National Championship game when Colt goes down very early in the game.

Interviewed Mack Brown following his UNC squad taking on SMU at Owenby circa 1993 and the entire postgame comments focused around the fact that his team could not "get up" to play a team like SMU and that they should not have even been on their schedule (a heavily favored UNC barely beat Ramon Flanigan and SMU that day). He also complained (rightfully so) about the facilities and would not comment about the actual game.

I walked away from that with the impression in the title of this thread.

He wouldn't comment about the game because it was obvious that the game had been stolen for UNC by his all ACC official crew.
May the forth be with us.

I think it's really ridiculous suggest that Mack Brown should be playing for a NC every year. That's such a straw man's argument bc they can pounce when Texas doesn't get there. Critics tend to gravitate.

As a supporter, all I've wanted is for Texas to be in the hunt and then see what happens.

But for review:
Mack Brown has won about 80 percent of his games.
Rolled out I believe 11 consecutive 10 plus winning seasons.
Won the Big 12 twice.
1-1 in NC games.
5-6 vs OU and has won three of the last 4
9-3 vs A&M

There has been some frustration over teams that didn't perform like they should have but I'll take that body of work. Hook'em Horns!

Jealousy will get you nowhere.

I have been a volunteer for the Mustang Club Fundrive for 23 years, and a team captain for 5 or 6 years. We have our team draft coming up in a week or so. George, if I could get you to put down your Gopher flags, teams of the Big Ten flags, Hog flag, longhorn flag etc... for just two months, you would be my top draft pick. You run around in circles with so much passion for so many different teams. If I could get you to focus on SMU for just a while, you could be rookie of the year! Ponylove, you stay away from him, I think George has A.D.D, and if I can get him a 2 month supply of ritalin, look out for my team!

I'm passionate for my Alma mater. I'm just harder on it than I am than the others bc I've watched this stuff since 1987. I have two swc men's hoops titles, one NCAA tourney win, three non losing football seasons, some solid success in womens hoops, so Im pretty comfortable about where I am and who I support and how I do so.

And I'll forget the accusations about alleged medical conditions from the militant leader of the sunshine club who does more to demonize opponents and exclude and spread hate. If it isn't your way, then we should all be damned.

But you've just reminded why not being around you is addition by subtraction. I want nothing to do with you.

Go Mustangs!

Wow George, now that's the pot, calling the kettle black! My season tickets at Moody, used to be in front of you until I moved. If you're at the game today, I will try and talk to you about volunteering some of your passion to the SMU MUSTANG CLUB fundrive. Stay away from him ponylove!
