The Southwest Conference is hot! After some rough stretches, the old SWC is back big-time lately!
SMU: Best team in 25 years TCU: Best team in 75 years Rice: 2 bowls in the last 3 years Houston: Spent several weeks in the top 25 Arkansas: Under the radar this year, but next year probably ranked, with one of the top QBs in the NCAA Texas: #2 in the nation A&M: Trending upward and had their moments with a young team Baylor: Trending upward with Griffin coming back Tech: With the right coach (Tuberville?) they could still be a force And except for Rice, all of these have stud or potential stud QBs coming back next year: - Keenum, Mallett and Jarrod Johnson will get Heisman hype - Taylor Potts or that "Sticks" guy will put up numbers for Tech - Dalton and Griffin are proven - And not to forget up-and-comers Padron and Gilbert who might have numbers to match all of the above I can envision 5-6 of these teams being in next year's season-ending Top 25. Re: The Southwest Conference is hot!and to offset the no stud at QB, Rice has probably the best RB of any of them next year
Re: The Southwest Conference is hot!Doesn't Rice also have some 4 star transfer QB from Alabama coming in or did I dream that?

Re: The Southwest Conference is hot!Rice has a 6-7 QB transferring in from Miami named Taylor Cook-a good prospect but not really a superstar prospect. Offered by Miami, Kansas St and SMU. Rated 5.4 and 2 star. I also think that the JUCO transfer Tulsa signed is a lot better prospect than the Michigan transfer to Rice McGuffie

Re: The Southwest Conference is hot! Then I guess it was a dream. I am going back to sleep so maybe we can get a big DL.
EDIT: Went and checked the Rice site and the guy I was thinking about was Fanuzzi who was their QB this past year after sitting out a year due to transfer from Alabama. Somewhere I lost 2 years of my life while this occured. Could have sworn that 2010 was to be the first year of eligibility for Fanuzzi. Re: The Southwest Conference is hot!for comparison-the Hall kid signed by Tulsa was the No. 14 prospect in the State of Texas in 2008-while McGuffie was the No. 38 prospect. This Hall kid is one of the highest ranked Texas prospects ever signed by a CUSA school and is a huge pickup by Tulsa

Re: The Southwest Conference is hot!oh Mrydel Rice had a transfer from Alabama named Nick Fanuzzi who started some games last year for Rice but he was a 3 star. Remember he was the kid who had a excellent game against SMU

Re: The Southwest Conference is hot!
Yeah. I edited my post above. Just lost a couple of years of my life somewhere. At least now I am not quite as upset about the good game had against us considering there was an Alabama recruiting throwing the ball. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: The Southwest Conference is hot!I won't be surprised if Padron get at least a little bit of Heisman press this season if he remains the starter. If he is a third-year starter in 2011 I think he will definitely get mentioned in the Heisman conversation.

Re: The Southwest Conference is hot!I don't see Sherman turning it around for the Aggies. A&M has more pain to endure.
Re: The Southwest Conference is hot!
Tap the brakes. Let's hope Padron stays far away from McCoy so he doesn't catch whatever sophomore slump McCoy is currently dealing with. #NewLobCity
Re: The Southwest Conference is hot!
Thats not a slump, its called I should have transfered when I was thinking about it. Sent from my KOREAN knockoff using Tapdance 5
Re: The Southwest Conference is hot!
I loved the anecdote mentioned during the Tech/MSU bowl that Leach theorized that part of Taylor Potts' problem was having the un-macho (my term not his, I don't remember how he put it exactly) first name Taylor and thus Leach gave him the new first name Nick. Now that I think about it, Taylor Thompson and Taylor Reed could both beat me up, so never mind. "We hung with them until the game got out of hand." -DanFreibergerForHeisman
