Just saw it scroll across ESPNEWS. I am shocked, did not think the sand aggies would spend that kind of money, unless Tuberville agreed to be paid by percentage of ticket reciepts. What happens to the current staff?

Will be interesting to see how he wants to handle the offense schemes and if he can keep all the recruits that commited to TT for that purpose. The coaching staff am sure is nervous..

I thought they would name Ruffin McNeill the HC, especially after the bowl win. He seemed like a good guy. I wonder what happens to him now.

Tubberville is a big Defensive guy. Probably will want to bring in his own DC.

He would be wise politically to keep Ruffin, if possible.

Tubervile was unemployed and was not hired by the other BCS schools that had openings so they probably got him pretty cheap. That's unfortunate for Ruffin McNeil, I think he would have done a really good job.

Tech made the right choice

SMU86,

I agree, It would have been interesting to see what he could have done. I think hiring Tuberville was the best move for Tech considering the situation. This will probably help quite all of the 1st mates that are mad about their pirate. It gives them a "name coach" so to speak. As you mentioned he was not in demand, maybe Tech was able to give him an average salary contract that is heavy with incentives and roll over clauses. Maybe a few chickens and part of an oil well. :D

Nice choice for Tech. Tuberville is a class guy who will probably stabilize the situation out there pretty quickly. I'm anxious to see how many of the Pirate's are still bellyaching this time next year.

Class and Texas Tech are not kin....it will certainly be strange to watch those two attempt to mix
