Re: Watching UT-AL only reminds me of what an [deleted] Mack Brown is
That's the first thing I thought of when it happened....WTF?...I know Colt has been durable for the past four years at Texas but someone should have been backing him up other than a Frosh as injuries do happen, especially with a QB like Colt that tends to run the ball more than not. As for a#$$ holes, the cake was taken by the Bama coach Saben as he is a real [deleted]..the way he handled the customary Gatorade ( or whatever that was) drenching was over the top negative with all his scowling. Sorry but that happens on major Football wins and if it stained your shirt then get another one, but that should have been welcomed as after all he had just won the National Championship for hecks sake....and it didn't seem like he even respectably recognized his opponent Texas during his post game on the field interview to at least give them some customary kudo's...he is so arrogant.

ponyscott i think i may usually agree with you, but on this point we'll agree to disagree. i have grown tired of the gatorade drenchings of the head coach. yeah I guess it was funny the first few years, but personally i think it's stupid....people have found a unique way to be an "A-HOLE" and get away with it....why "F" with somebody that brought ya to the big dance? I don't get it. C-ya @ Milos!
Re: Watching UT-AL only reminds me of what an [deleted] Mack Brown isI don't like the fact that Mack Brown is such a formidable opponent in recruiting, but the coaching mistakes he and his assistants make keep Texas from being unstoppable. So, with the money Texas has I would rather have Brown then a Pete Carol, Urban Meyer, or Nick Saban. They can recruit and coach.
I don't follow Texas games closely, so I do not know if they had any runaway wins this year, but if they did then it was a coaching mistake to not get your only backup in to gain some experience. I think June tends to make the same mistake. Of course this year we did not have a runaway until the bowl and I wish he had put Bo in at the end of the game. I think this is about the only thing on which I disagree with Coach Jones. I am sure he has good reasons for how he handles QB substitutions. I also think it was a coaching mistake to call a play that runs Colt into the middle of the Alabama line with Texas offense not able to open a hole. That is what you use Running Backs for not your star QB. It was also a coaching mistake to not teach Colt to hit the line with his shoulders squared instead of turning his back to the line. If he doesn't hit the line with his back he doesn't get hurt.

Thanks, we are cool and I do agree that the water cooler drenchings are over done as the 'wave' was over done but how do you stop it? And it wasn't the drenching but just the way Saban handled himself after it was done was what brissled me. But can't disagree with the fact that it probably shouldnt be done to the HC. They should be picked up and carried off the field to honor him not chastise him.
Re: Watching UT-AL only reminds me of what an [deleted] Mack Brown is
You know its funny, the head referee in that 94 UNC game is my dad's best friend and also my godfather. He was a 30 year ACC official. Having known him for 40+ years, I can tell you that a.) he is an honest man, b.) he will readily admit that he is not perfect, and c.) nobody is, and d.) when he watches games as a fan, he always roots against Carolina, as that is his least favorite ACC team (put mildly). Simply put, he really doesn't like UNC. I've sat next to him at the ACC basketball tournament numerous times, and trust me, as a fan, if anything, he would have liked nothing better than to see UNC lose to SMU. Bad calls is different from trying to steal a game Oh, and he maintains to this day that after that game, a random SMU fan walked up and assaulted one of his line judges. Anybody care to own up to that one? ![]()
Re: Watching UT-AL only reminds me of what an [deleted] Mack Brown isgood to hear that all people w/ ACC affiliations aren't UNC apologists.
Re: Watching UT-AL only reminds me of what an [deleted] Mack Brown is
Yeah I did not understand that either. After all Bo Levi Mitchell was the starter for almost half of our regular season wins. Heck why not let the guy play a few series at the end of the Hawaii Bowl when we were so far ahead so he can say he actually played in a Bowl Game, so his family could see him, and just as a courtesy for him playing sick, hurt, and giving his all and doing the best he could early in the season. Re: Watching UT-AL only reminds me of what an [deleted] Mack Brown is
I never thought of that but that is a good point as he deserved to be put in. I talked to several parents of players that said they feel bad for Bo and his family after losing his starting spot after all he put into it, taking alot of heat from fans etc. and they also don't think he will come back next year.
Re: Watching UT-AL only reminds me of what an [deleted] Mack Brown is
ponyscott maybe thats part of the reason June didn't put Bo in. Maybe he wants Bo to transfer and wanted to really send the message to Bo that "you are not going to play here". still I wish Bo could have got a few snaps. and I think we need Bo at least until we see more of J.J. McDermott and/or Kaiser....but maybe June already knows McDermott will be the backup next season and wants Bo gone so he can use that scholarship on someone else? C-ya @ Milos!
Re: Watching UT-AL only reminds me of what an [deleted] Mack Brown isI think maybe those wounds from WSU run pretty deep
Re: Watching UT-AL only reminds me of what an [deleted] Mack Brown isI'm not standing up for Saban since I don't have any feeling about him one way or the other, but in case you missed it, he got hit on his shoulder and neck and maybe his head with the cooler when they doused him...that may have had something to do with his reaction. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Watching UT-AL only reminds me of what an [deleted] Mack Brown is
Not envy, at least on my part. Meyer and Carroll are great coaches. Brown is a traditionally underachieving snake oil salesman who is slick enough to charm the simple.
