New story on John Bordano

Beast of a Leader

Published January 2, 2010

John Bordano walked out of the locker room at Rice University in Houston after the 14-6 Class 5A semifinal loss to Katy last month a spent warrior.

The senior linebacker had just played his final game in a Unicorn jersey and he admitted "it was hard to take the jersey off."

Bordano played his final game for New Braunfels like so many before: Leaving it all on the field.

I predict great things for Bordano like his uncle once did at SMU, only even better. What a stud and can't help beleiving that personally he will be much more proud to be a Mustang than a Unicorn (?)....just sayin.

hopefully he comes in about 225-230 and ready to play from day one. Need to replace Kennemer and that won't be easy

Bordano, Thornton, Beard, and Nwabuike will really bring it for years to come.

we really do look pretty well stocked at LB all of a sudden; with Yenga, Fleps and Fleming coming back as the SR citizens and Davis, Reed, Rogers, Brown along with some good looking recruits coming in. There are also guys like Aaron Davis, Victor Jones, Robert Parker and even Drewery in the mix trying to earn playing time. Things are definitely looking up.

throw andrew ellison into that list as well.

I think Aaron Davis may be making the switch to defensive end...I think I recall him playing DE at the end of the game against Nevada.

If young Bordano has the same level of skills as his uncle, he's going to be a solid player for us. I've got Bordano and Flanigan as my two favorite SMU players from the 1990s.

Really looking forward to seeing this guy play. Ever since he committed, I've had dreams of a reincarnation of his uncle.

I agree - Chris Bordano and Ramon Flanigan might be the two best players of the last 20 years.

Aaron Davis moved to DE this past season.

I do not know but Andrew Ellison is still on the roster posted on the SMU web site. Did not check to see if he played any the latter part of the season.
