I have jury duty tomorrowI wonder if addiction to ponyfans is a cause for dismissal
Re: I have jury duty tomorrowsee if you can hijack the questions being asked in the same way one can hijack a pf.com thread. Challenge would be to do so without [deleted] off the judge.
Re: I have jury duty tomorrowWhat are the odds of having a case involving a UT football player? 1 in 5? 3 in 5?

Re: I have jury duty tomorrowDo what I always do: when they're asking you questions about the case, look straight at the defendant and say you think they should fry his [deleted]. Gets you dismissed every time. And the last time I did it, the defendant jumped over the rail and tried to throttle me. Tainted the whole panel. EVERYONE got sent home. And everyone thanked me out in the hallway.

Re: I have jury duty tomorrowOr perjury since you swear an oath to answer the voir dire questions honestly. Unless MrManifesto thinks every defendant should be "fried" (and even in death penalty cases, Texas does not use the electric chair), he's lying under oath.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.
Re: I have jury duty tomorrowActually that is really sad. My dad, a lawyer, always told me one of the best ways to support the police was to serve on juries so that their work would be worth it--to keep the bad guys off the street.
Re: I have jury duty tomorrowHere at the courthouse and I do take jury duty seriously. Having a judge as an uncle I know how hard it is to get people to care. I hope the $6 doesn't go to my head.
Re: I have jury duty tomorrowTry not to spend it all in one place. I usually donate it back to the juvenile program the county runs. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: I have jury duty tomorrowI have served on two juries. One a death penalty case. Jury duty is the only activity in our goobernment where ordinary citizens are direct participants in our governing process (voting only selects the people to represent us in the governing process). I found some people don’t take jury duty seriously (wanted to make political statements with the verdict) and others take their duty very seriously. Our country is held together by laws, not by force of arms. Thus, jury duty is a very important function in maintain trust in the laws we have. Good luck. Hope you don’t get a death penalty case. Those are very stressful.
Re: I have jury duty tomorrowWow. I couldn't imagine serving on a death penalty jury. That would be tough to do. I have only served once (only time I have been called) for a domestic violence charge. It was hard watching the lawyer for the accused go after the guys wife on the stand, trying to blame her for the guy beating her up. Didn't play too well with the jury. We found him guilty. It was an honor to serve in this situation for the 4 days. Time more than well spent. Made me gain a new appreciation for the police, the prosecutor and the courage of the woman to get on the stand and tell her story. I hope I get called on again.
Re: I have jury duty tomorrowTurns out they failed to notify us that we were not needed. And I got a parking ticket warning for displaying the park pass on the wrong side of my dashboard.
Re: I have jury duty tomorrowNo good deed goes unpunished by our goobernment.
