Not that it would happen at Tennessee but I just heard froma reliable source that June Jones name and a few others are being discussed as possible candidates for the Tennessee job. This source is very close to the Tennessee administration. Granted, it's just one of several names being discussed and I don't think June would leave SMU.

Re: Not that it would happen at Tennesse but I just heard from aTennessee fans want Muschamp (DC at Texas). I've seen lots of names, but JJ I've seen NO WHERE. Other names: Skip Holtz, Chris Peterson, Cutcliffe, Butch Davis, Leach, John Chavis, Spurrier. NO JJ!
Geaux MUSTANGS! Geaux Tigers!
Re: Not that it would happen at Tennessee but I just heard fromIt appears from all we've read that JJ is on a "mission", whatever that may be?
JJ likes challenges, real challenges. I think we can all agree that he's truly different from all the other coaches in the profession. I think he's here for awhile - God Willing & the creek don't rise. BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
Re: Not that it would happen at Tennessee but I just heard fromSchlabach is reporting Muschamp is #1 target of Tennessee. Supposedly, ESPN insider has also reported he will be in Knoxville w.in 24 hrs.
Geaux MUSTANGS! Geaux Tigers!
Re: Not that it would happen at Tennessee but I just heard fromThe ESPN people are speculating and they might be correct. ESPN did not say anything about Lane Kiffin being a candidte for the USC job but he was. My info is coming from someone actually there. Again, June may not be on the short list but his name is being mentioned by the people inside the program. Again, I don't think he would take the job anyway but I am just passing on what I was told by some at Tennessee that's all.

Your source must suscribe to the ESPN insider.
Re: Not that it would happen at Tennessee but I just heard fromnames are thrown around all the time but that never means they are actually interested or have even been contacted. They need a gridiron coach for the SEC, not a gimmick offense. See Sugar Bowl.

Re: Not that it would happen at Tennessee but I just heard from
No, he is actually in Knoxville. But like Pony_fan said names get thrown around all the timein these situations. Someone else said that Chris Peterson is suppose to interview Thrusday. Also, Coach Jones offense is not a gimmicky offense. It worked in the NFL during his time there. Georgia just flat out had a lot more talent than Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl. Other notable non traditional offense wins over traditional offenses are Boise State over OU and Utah over Alabama. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: Not that it would happen at Tennessee but I just heard fromThis got this off the a Tennessee site regarding the coaching candidates.
Will Muschamp; Texas Defensive Coordinator Stock Rating: Up Muschamp appears to be the early leading candidate to replace Lane Kiffin as the head coach at the University of Tennessee. Muschamp is the head coach in waiting at the University of Texas, instead of waiting for one UT job why not go ahead and become the head man at another UT. He is familiar with the SEC and is a very hot and big name that Tennessee needs to make up in recruiting and public relations after Kiffins abrupt departure to USC. A great defensive mind, expects to be an outstanding head coach, the key question is he tired of waiting and is he ready for the challenge. Kirby Smart; Alabama Defensive Coordinator Stock Rating: Hot and rising Coming off winning a national championship, Smart is one of the top young coaches in the business. He has a history in the SEC and knows what it takes to build a championship type program. He is also known to be a great recruiter, something the Volunteers need in their next head coach. Chris Petersen; Boise State Head Coach Stock Rating: Hot and rising One of the best offensive minds in the business, who has earned the right to coach at BCS type school. Peterson has done an incredible job at Boise State with less talent, is he the answer the Vols are looking for? Is Peterson ready for the Shark Tank known as the SEC? David Cutcliffe; Duke Head Coach Stock Rating: Moderate and steady A long time assistant coach in Knoxville, Cutcliffe would be the safe choice by some Vol supporters. Known for what he accomplished with his offense during the Vols good ole days, also spent time at Ole Miss as a head coach before taking the job at Duke. Guz Malazan; Auburn Offensive Coordinator Stock Rating: Steady but unproven Malazan is another great offensive mind that has taken the Tiger’s offense to new levels including an impressive victory over the Vols and a big bowl win for Auburn this year. He has only been a college coach for a few seasons, will the lack of experience keep him from landing a job such as the one in Knoxville? Todd Graham; Tulsa Head Coach Stock Rating: Proven and steady Coach Graham has done great things at Tulsa and Rice, is he ready for the big time SEC. He has surrounded himself with high power offenses and he has a lot of experience on the defensive side of the ball. Jim Harbaugh; Stanford Head Coach Stock Rating: Proven winner, hot commodity He has proven he can win at San Diego State and Stanford. Can he do it in the SEC. He can do it with smart kids, he should be able to do with great athletes from the South. Coaching runs in his family and he would be a good choice for the Vols. Would he leaves the west coast to come back East? June Jones; SMU Head Coach Stock Rating: Proven winner and program rebuilder Jones took the SMU Mustangs bowling this year after a 25 year drought. If he can win at SMU he can win anywhere. He also proved that at Hawaii. Can he recruit on the level necessary in the SEC, most definitely? He is a great offensive mind and will make things fun and interesting for sure at Rocky Top. Kevin Sumlin; Houston Head Coach Stock Rating: Upcoming young coach Another great offensive mind, former offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State, who has proven he can win at Houston. If he can lock down recruiting in Houston he will do well in the south recruiting in the SEC. Sumlin deserves a shot at BCS School, will that be at Tennessee? Re: Not that it would happen at Tennessee but I just heard fromI think JJ stays here for a while, don't have SMU blinders on, just a gut feel. I am curious, I know Muschamp is a hot pick. But I am little surprised a program like Tennesse would go with an unproven commidity like Muschamp. Then again they did hire Kiffen, even though he had head coaching expierence a lower level college program, I mean an NFL team, the Oakland Raiders.
GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Not that it would happen at Tennessee but I just heard fromIt's nice to have a coach that larger BCS schools are interested in.

Re: Not that it would happen at Tennessee but I just heard fromNot even a remote possibility of this happening. June has said numerous times the way he runs his program wouldn't work at a program like Tennessee. This will be June's final college coaching job. And in all probability his last coaching position of his career. Then I predict the AD position at Hawaii.
Back off Warchild seriously.
