Scouting Tech: their new OC will be...

Postby RGV Pony » Tue Jan 12, 2010 9:12 pm

...the guy from Troy, Neal Brown. Avg 34 pts and 500 ypg last year.

Anyone watch Troy play? How similar are they to what Tech already ran?

Alabama's James Willis to be their DC.

In other news, what of the Leach to Tennessee rumors?

Brown runsd more of a spread where the QB runs than the actual air raid. I think Tuberville is setting the stage for putting more of the power I in place.

One thing about Tuberville, he is going to end up only running his offense his way. So it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up running an I formation. But regardless, Tech has a lot better chance of winning Championships with Tuberville than with Leach. I would much rather see us play against a Leach coached Tech team than a Tuberville coached team because you know they are going to play great D. However, I like JJ & Co. as our Coaches better. A few more recruiting classes and depth is all we need.

I think we have a better chaance against Tuberville because Tuberville defenses were great against SEC tem but when he had to go against spread teams he had probklems defending them. Teams like USF and West Virignia gave him fits (and losses). SMU could never stop the original air raid and Ruffin had them playing better D.

This guy doesn't impress me. His 2009 schedule shows that non-conference, his offense did nothing and in conference, it put up 50 points on NTSU. Whoopie-doo. Besides, the HC at Troy is an offensive guy anyway. Was this guy even calling plays?

It is like the Tech fan said, "Mike Leach was our edge."

I will be surprised if Tech is not a mess offensively next season.

Edit: Apparently, he did call plays.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Was he the coach of Ole Miss when SMU had them down by more than 2 TD's back in the 90's(before blowing the lead)?

Tuberville was the Ol Miss coach during Mike Cavans first year when we lost at Miss. in 1997. Cavans first SMU team beat Arkansas 31-7 the next week and ended the season 6-5.

My friend, if I recall correctly, we had a 37-point lead over Ole Miss in the 3rd Quarter. I want to say this was in 1998 in the Cotton Bowl. Everyone I was with thought the game was over and wanted to leave, but as I told them, they found out that it was not over.

We lost that game 41-48 in OT. That was the year we had to vacate 10 games for using an ineligible player. Although we only had 4 wins that year one was over Tulsa 33-3 and Navy (at Navy) 24-11. The previous year (1997) we went 6 and 5 thanks to a loss to win-less TCU in the last game of the season. My how times changed as we descended into the depths of fan wide depression.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
