Tubervile was unemployed and was not hired by the other BCS schools that had openings so they probably got him pretty cheap.

Supposedly a little over $2M per year for 5 years. Not too cheap.

1.5 mi not 2. That is less than Leach was making. They get a well known coach that did not require a premium price. I guess we will see how that works.

Well, I was just repeating what I heard on ESPN yesterday a few hours after the story broke. They said a little over $2M for 5 years. I guess ESPN jumped the gun...again.

Yep, they do that sometimes. Hey BRStang, when does LSU play TCU?

In 2013 they come to Baton Rouge. I think it is a home and home, and play at Tarrant County U in 2014.

ESPN likes to report all the possible money that a coach can make as their actual salary...just look at what they have to say about stoops salary...i bet if tuberville meets every incentive possible he WILL make over 2 mil a year

1.5 is not the base it is the potential. He is making less than Leach was making. But since several other schools passed over him this year I am sure he is happy to be making anything. TTech saved a lot of money hiring him. I just wonder how long he will put up with the air raid offense since he is a run first 3 yards and a cloud of dust ball control coach. i just don't think it is a good fit. With that being said we better strap on the chin strap pretty tight when we play them because their defense will bring it.

Tuberville, 55, became a strong candidate when it was determined he would not insist on hiring his own staff, a source told ESPN.com's Maisel. Tuberville also will not cost Tech a contract buyout.

He also said he'd keep the aerial attack in the gameplan. Should be interesting to see if McNeil stays around given his "best friend" was fired and he was passed over for the head job; I'd think he probably would if Tuberville lets him.

Sounds like Barry Switzer as Cowboys coach.
