USF Player wants an apology from Leavitt

This is not good at all for the great, long standing tradition of walk-ons. I would put Adam James in the "walk-on" category as well. These kids are going guns ablazing with nothing to lose since they are not on scholarship.

I wouldn't be surprised to see coaches reduce the number of walk-ons if this continues.

Well I guess if you get grabbed by the throat and slapped being a walk on then there will be less of them anyway. Sounds like what you are saying is that he should have done it to a player on scholarship.

"The player who says fired South Florida football coach Jim Leavitt grabbed him by the throat and slapped him in the face wants a public apology. "
"We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

I don't think we know what happened because there are different accounts at this point. I don't care if he slapped him, that is not that big a deal......these are football players we are talking about, not the squash team. A choke hold is different though.

Either way though, this kid is a trouble-maker and so is James. The USF kid has changed his story and is now demanding a public apology after he got the coach fired? That is utter non-sense

If you have an issue with him, take it up with him personally or sue him.

I do think it does raise the issue of whether or not walk-on's attitudes are different than those who are scholarship? Do coaches treat the two differently?

After having a son play college football for 4 years I have seen it all and know what others never see.

These kids that have problems are NEVER starters. Look at the history.

You mean to tell me that you can run full blast into a guy knock him out as a part of the game? But you’re dad can’t smack you in the face for being a punk. lol

Show me one notable case of this with a true starter.

These kids [deleted] me off.

Didn't Jeff George and June Jones get into some sort of heated argument one time? I think June Jones handled that by benching George for the rest of the season.

Corey Kipp set a KU school record for sacks

http://www2.kusports.com/news/2009/dec/ ... treatment/

another in the Mangino thing, Mike Rivera-who now is a LB in the NFL-gave a little back, which I think is pretty funny:
"He got in Mike Rivera's face one time, started talking all this mess to him and Mike was like 'OK, coach. OK coach," Crawford said. "But Mangino just kept egging it on, kept trying to provoke him and then Mike snapped back at him. Then some players had to grab him.

What's worse, Matt drills or a love tap. If a coach would have slaped my son I would have laughed and bought him a beer. Or I may have gone to pick him up after the coach got his a$j kicked.
