Why hire Billy G. when we can get Dave Bliss cheaper.

There's no comparison. Billy G. isn't corrupt, he just got a DWI.

And his failure at Kentucky is more likely a results of being in a state that he wasn't familiar recruiting, and the overriding fan/fit/school issue (see below).

Gillispie was fired from his position at Kentucky on March 27, 2009.[29] Kentucky's administration has continually indicated that the reasons for terminating Gillispie's employment are not related to the performance of Gillispie's teams, but rather was due to an "'incompatibility' between the school" and Gillispie which specifically manifested itself in the former coach's refusal to sign his contract since his hire two years earlier

Look what he did for Texas Western and TAMC... he can coach, also, btw.

After leading both UTEP and Texas A&M to postseason appearances one year after poor seasons, Gillispie became the only college basketball coach to be in charge of the NCAA program with the biggest turnaround in two consecutive seasons. Gillispie is known as an excellent recruiter who has managed to put together four straight top-25 recruiting classes. In his three seasons at A&M, the Aggies achieved three consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time ever.[6]

And this has more to do with why he left Kentucky:

Although TUBBY Smith compiled an impressive resume during his UK career, he came under considerable pressure from many UK fans, who believed that his recruiting was subpar and his failure to achieve a Final Four appearance in his last nine seasons was inadequate by UK standards. Some UK fans went as far as to place "for sale" signs on his front lawn. He did come just a double overtime loss short of a Final Four appearance in 2005, losing to Tom Izzo's Michigan State Spartans. This drought is the longest of any coach in UK history.[22] That along with his double digit losing seasons (which led to Tubby's critics nicknaming him "Ten-Loss Tubby") led to the pressure.[23] On March 22, 2007, Smith resigned his position of UK head coach to accept the head coach position at the University of Minnesota

Smart Asss comment of the day...

What's a HS Major Transfer?

Are the in JUCO majoring in HS?

Did you mean that he has 2 guys in HS that will commit to SMU?

When can we expect this? Should I plan on going to the game tomorrow night to watch Doh's farewell?

interesting to see TXbball back on, still posting.

Do you still stand behind your assertion that Billy Clyde is on his way to Dallas?

CUSA is well known as a very forgiving conference for coaches who have fallen out of favor, so I don't rule out anything.

Totally different story though and Doh isn't a bad guy, just hasn't produced and he WAS a D-1 Coach of the year at one point....character flaws and questionable ethics and morals is different....

Would be a GREAT hire for SMU.

The guy made a mistake.

He can obviously recruit Texas.

A lifetime of being a lying, deceitful, immoral P.O.S is more then 1 mistake. Let's not make it like his last DWI was his first or even second
