More proof that you may sign early if you graduate in Dec. Highland Park QB Luke Woodley just signed with Louisville per the head coach.

Yeah, twitter is much better proof than the NCAA....

For real proof look what is happening at Tennessee today. 2 early enrollees have de-committed.

Yeah, they signed something didn't they!

Which early enrollees are you talking about?

What proof from the NCAA have you presented? You pointed to an NLI fact sheet that said nothing about early HS grads so while you might be right you have not been able to produce evidence.

Twitter might not be the most formal form of communication, but I think most people would consider a tweet from a coach to be more official than a message board posting from someone who keeps saying he knows the rules but has not shared his source, to say nothing of the article reporting on an athlete signing.

Personally, I do not know the numbers but these numbers are AWESOME.

"I'm very excited for my son," said Michael."It's something that I've thought about since he was in junior high."

"What I'm most excited about is SMU has a 99.4 graduation rate. In four or five years he'll have a college degree, and that's what I'm more concerned about."

Now that's really cool for his Dad to say that and love the fact that he actually had the credits and was able to take advantage of the early enrollment. We are happy for his family..welcome to the Hilltop....he will be a good one for us....

A recruit that comes "early", that is begins class in the spring semester has not signed a letter of intent. What he did do, is start his clock on eligibility, 5 years to play 4 and initiate the transfer policy of the NCAA--sitting out a year if transferring to another school outside the conference and two years if in conference. But, my understanding is he has not signed the LOI, which occurs on national signing day in February. But, in truth what is the effective difference whether or not a LOI has been signed or not, the NCAA rules have now become effective. At least that's my understanding, I may wrong.

Perhaps he signed an LOI promising to sign an LOI. 8)
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

sure looks like O'Guin is signing some official document on the Rivals page announcing his entrance to SMU whether it be a Letter of Intent or other document officially evidencing grant-in-aid, He has a pen and there is a document he is signing and his Dad, Mom and Sister? are watching his hand move

I saw an article once explaining that early entrants sign a *scholarship agreement* with the school. They cannot sign a Letter of Intent, but the scholarship agreement lets the school pay for their school and gives them the benefits of the other athletes on scholarship.

I do not believe athletes that sign the scholarship agreement need to sign the NLI in February.

Bottom line is that when they enroll the clock does start. If for some reason he transferred to another school (D-1) tomorrow, he would have to sit a year.

I think this is great that he will be able to got through spring with the team. Sure wish he could redshirt but I think he will be used from day one and will be effective. And yes, the degree is the prize.

I met O'Guin today - good-looking kid. He told me that he's 6-1, but I think he's a hair taller - maybe 6-2. Very solid, strong-looking build. Good guy, too - said he is registering for classes, getting his books, moved into his dorm, etc.
