Certain factions of people in Hawaii *never* let the Rainbows vs. Warriors issue drop. The lead anchor of Hawaii's top-rated newscast (who has had far higher ratings than the other stations for over 20 years) continually snuck in commentaries bashing JJ and not using "Rainbows" anymore. People regularly wrote in the papers to complain and went on sports forums complaining about it and would write that they would like the name to be changed back. To give you an idea of how some people never let the issue die, that TV anchor was *still* complaining about losing the "Rainbows" name for the football team during JJ's final season at Hawaii when the team was 12-0. Wins and bowl games wouldn't silence some people about Rainbows and I'm guessing the Peruna issue will be the same.

the big difference here is that we didn't get rid of Peruna. we just added another 'gimmick' to the gameday experience
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Well, I for one played with Peruna as my mascot and Peruna will always be my mascot. I can live with the sad sight of 2 horses standing in the end zone with 2 guys sitting on their backs, but I will be interested it what the feeling will be IF Peruna is not replaced when he passes on. I actually do anticipate this and will not believe otherwise until it is shown otherwise. And please do not quote what the powers have said. They also said after the initial gifting that the horses would be set up at the equestrian stables and next year it would be determined how they would be used, so what is being said is not what is real, What is going on is what is real.
Regardless, I do appreciate all the supporters of the program, pro Peruna and pro sad little horses.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand

i keep coming back to this thread thinking i'm going to see something about Ruff getting the HC job there. and keep getting hit in the face with this SOS.
go SMU, Peruna, Mustangs, Band, Team, Fans, Mustang Club, Rivals Members, Non-Rivals Members, Scout Members, Non-Scout Members, Pom Squad, Cheerleaders, Circle of Champions, Poor folks like me, 1st & 10 regulars & non-regulars and all the rest that I forgot. Let's all get along since we have a common goal. SMU success.
screw it. let's all keep fighting amongst ourselves. it's more fun that way.

If SMU keeps wining, I could care less if a midget rode Peruna out on the field for every home game.

You don't like him. Because he's dog'in you're pet. Would you rather be a winner without a pony or a loser with one?

Now that would be a sight to see. Actually I think June is figuratively already riding both Turner and Orsini piggy back where ever he wants to go.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
