when the current Peruna croaks

Your insensitive language about what would be an unfortunate event shows your inherent dislike of Peruna.

if you honestly believe that the current Peruna

how 'bout we bet something like a complete expense paid
trip (airfare/hotel/game ticket/ect) for one of our regular
roadtrips like Tulane, UTEP, Rice, or Texas Tech?

Why in the world would I bet on something to happen that I do not want to happen. I am certainly not going to cheer for the demise of Peruna. I am merely stating my thoughts based on fact, not conjecture. And the fact is based on previous falsehoods, so that makes predicting the future difficult other than knowing that future falsehoods could be forthcoming.

I do not want ot continue this argument. I have my thoughts on the subject and I have friends that believe otherwise. I would imagine some of my friends even voted for Obama. I want them to remain my friends and I will not let a subject like this, no matter how strongly I may feel, ruin that friendship, so the best way to preserve that standing is to just be quiet. I will let the arguement continue with those of you that seem to have all the answers to the future.

Once again CalallenStang you are WRONG...you have no idea what words mean to me....my favorite teacher croaked last year and I was very upset by that...and quit trying to create a false image of: "if you like the new horses you must hate Peruna"...it's not an either/or....I love Peruna...I think Peruna is really cool looking and one of the best symbols of SMU...but I also think Peruna is not going anywhere....last time I checked he was in Hawaii....all you horse kooks(not mrydel) have to create some BS that attempts to connect the kooky dots....since Peruna is still on the field, in Hawaii, running on the field for every home game, and both Turner & Orsini have stated Peruna is not being replaced...the horse kooks have to invent some possible future doomful event that he would not be replaced when he croaks....meanwhile reality exists.

FACT: there has been a steady incremental increase in the profile of Cowpuke and Mayball which was not disclosed to SMU fans:

1. First they were just to make an appearance at the Save The Mustangs ceremony
2. Next they appeared on the field
3. Next they began to do tricks in the end zone
4. Next they ran circles on the field after SMU TDs
5. In Hawaii they ran across the field trailing Peruna after SMU scores and at the halves-not sure many fans actually realize this occurred

SMU fans have every reason to doubt the motives of those supporting Cowpuke and Mayball and the Gay Cabelleros that ride them. As of the Hawaii Bowl they have been incorporated into the Run Across the Field. Fact SMU has not been forthright from Day 1 about the roles of these horses-therefore mrydel and others clearly have reason for concern and distrust of the university's motives and intentions.

This ain't a question about the Rainbow Warriors so Hawaii fans shut the hell up. Rainbow Warriors and especially the emblem that was used had become in intervening years an international sign for homosexuality. And Hawaii as an educational institution had every right and reason to make a business decision to move away from that trademark and the connotations that go with it.
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

I'd like to point out, to some, that it is okay to be happy about our season this year, and thankful for what June Jones has done for this team, but also be deeply offended by the geldings situation at the same time. Because the two things have absolutely nothing to do with each other. The fact, whether or not it is true, that "Peruna is not going anywhere," is immaterial. The geldings' mere presence implies that somebody decided the 80-year tradition of Peruna was inadequate, and that is what I take exception to. An old high school friend of mine, with no connection to SMU at all, and no knowledge of this situation, called me up on Christmas Eve, and said, "What's up with the two gay guys on the horses? I thought SMU's mascot was a pony." I could not contradict him, and I agree with the folks who think our school and athletic dept. should show more respect to our symbol, Peruna

I could not agree with you more. Just because one wants Peruna to continue in the capacity the school founders envisioned doesn't mean one doesn't support Jones and what he is doing with the team and for the school.

Well said.

Also, could you write a song regarding this? I don't know if you realize this or not, but your previous songs about SMU have gone viral on the SMU campus. I think it would raise some eyes.

If I had any sort of ability to write lyrics, I'd help out, but I'm pretty useless in that regard.

I'm so glad that our football team got better this year so that we could now argue about other crap over and over and over again. GO MUSTANGS!
