Wolfman!!!

Postby SMULLET » Sat Jan 24, 2004 4:50 pm

Did anyone see the wolfman get thrown out of the game early in the second half? As a loyal student fan I was very upset to see this happen. There aren't enough students there as it is, and to kick out an obvious die-hard fan, just shows why SMU athletics lacks student support and school pride. I believe this was the same SMU wolfman that attended the game in Oklahoma City against OSU, he even made a short apperance on ESPN. Let me just express my disappointment in the SMU event staff, the security, and the administration as a whole. However the nachos were quite tasty.

Yeah this kid was in a group of about 8 students that stood and yelled the whole game, unlike the rest of them. Wolfman was awesome and gave us SOMETHING entertaining to watch, but apparently he 'bumped into' a cheerleader, so it became necessary to throw him out. Way to go Moody staff, you encourage the students to come out, be loud and rowdy, and then you send them packing the second they do anything other than sit on their hands. If what he did was that bad, then tell him not to do it and send him back to his seat, dont kick him out. I'd be surprised if we see wolfman ever again at an SMU bball game.

Also, does any remember when our dance team (a 'spirit' squad) used to show up before the games, cheer through them, dance a few timeouts, and then sing varsity afterwards? I guess it was too much to ask, so now they show up about 5 minutes before halftime to do one dance and they bolt for the exits before the team even comes back out for the second half. Woohoo, talk about spirit.

As the acticng agent for the Wolf Man, I just would like to thank everyone for their support today and assure yall he will be back and better than ever. I along with a bunch of my friends have go to every game at home and as many as we can on the road, and we will not quit our support because a bunch of lame [deleted] security guards are on a power trip. Buck the system and the Wolf Man will live forever!!!

Yeah, the dance team is lame this year. I think they've forgotten about their first purpose, which is to support the teams. Think about if the band just showed up at halftime and played, then left for the bar...

Also, Wolfman, you rock if you're reading this. I think everyone should start howling the next time he makes an appearance!

I was at the game also and saw the wolfman get escorted out. I couldn't believe it. He was showing spirit for the team and unless there was something I missed, I couldn't figure out what he had done wrong. No wonder SMU has trouble getting people to the games if that is what happens.

I'll howl for the Wolf Man. Any student that has enough spirit to wear a wolf mask gets my support.

We could use about 100 more like him.....hell even 10 more. SMU has absolutely no student involvement in athletics. But can you really blame them?

Basically the entire band supported this kid and what he did. As MustangSally and Spaz has said, it was entertaining to watch, and at least kids are getting into it FINALLY. (But maybe not so much after this last fiasco.)

And about the dance team... There was a rumour going around last year that they were either asked to not come to the basketball games anymore (because it was too cluttered) or they volunteered.

I don't know the whole story, but it'd be nice if just anyone came to these games, forced or not...
Oh you gotta love it. The horns, the drums, the noise! It's all for the love of music, for the love of the game.
