I certainly say amen to the advice given above. Not to sound too preachy, but orgies with a drunk chick never end well. If a girl is willing to take on more than one guy, then whether you have a raincoat or not, there are lots of things you can catch (can you say "crabs"), and then there is the possibility that rape might be something that comes up. And again, multiple guys/one girl, it looks bad. I still remember when some hockey groupie who was 16 years old decided to take on a bunch of Capitals players in the back of a limo about 20 years ago. Later, she screamed rape and a grand jury refused to indict. But Abe Pollin traded every one of those players including one future Hall of Famer who won two Stanley Cups for another team. There was one player who left the limo early to get a bucket of chicken (Nick Kypryos) and when he opened the door and saw what was going on, he took his bucket of chicken and just kept on walking home. Smart guy.

Bail was set at $100,000 according to an article I read. Not criminal lawyer but doesn't that mean that he can make bail with about a $10,000 bond put up by bondsman

I always understood, in layman's speak, that if you put up the 10% from a bail bondsman, that is a non refundable expense (profit to the bondsman). If you are able to post the full amount on your own, the full amount is returned to you upon showing up for trial. Correct?

Its one thing to post information that is news and affects an athletic program-that's fair game-its also fair game to raise questions about a program that has drop-outs and players involved in legal incidents-its quite another to take great satisfaction in such event to make yourself or your school look better. If my calculations are right this is at least the 6th SMU player or VERY prominent alumni to be accused of sexual assault over the last 10 or so years. And if you believe that no SMU Athlete ever gets a DWI or a drug citation just because it isn't reported in the Dallas paper then you are also an idiot. Truth is not just what happens to make it to the newspaper. And I personally know some of you would cover up that type of information if it involved an SMU player. Its called hypocrisy

On Fox4 they had video of him being handcuffed and escorted. They said he posted $50,000 bond, can't have contact with her and has to register as a sex offender. Think I heard that right.

Regardless, he's done playing football here.

Has to register as a sex offender...without a conviction? That doesn't sound right.

As I mentioned I think I heard it right. But maybe I didn't catch the "if convicted..." b4 the sex offender thing. The video is very sobering.

After posting bond, I believe the next move will be a Grand Jury hearing (usually 90 days after bond posted), unless case is thrown out by DA's office or a plea agreement is reached, Grand Jury will hand down an indictment or issues a no-bill. If Grand Jury decides to no-bill, means DA will not pursue case. If indictment is issued, this case could take months to reach conclusion. I agree with ddderius, the damage has been done with the arrest hitting media and then the "aggravated" charge becomes a hot issue with the university. Lets say the kid is aquitted at trial or GJ no-bills somehwere down the line, the kid has already been prosecuted by media and public, his life changed and probably end of football career albeit he is proven innocent in the end.

Wasn't Colt in a similar situation at one time? June Jones was the one that gave him a chance...can't imagine him not doing the same for Torlan if he is not indicted.

In fact, I even think Colt was indicted.

more than indicted-3 kids at Hawaii who went on the NFL were convicted. I doubt that flys at SMU

theres a big difference... im assuming youre talking about Pisa Tinoisamoa, Davone Bess, and Colt Brennan...

1 Pisa i believe was convicted of assault, not sexual assault... Once he reached Hawaii he kept his nose clean and did well with JJs second chance offer...

2. Davone was in the wrong place at the wrong time, picked up his friend but didnt know his friend had stolen possessions on him... Got pulled over and guilty by association.. spent time in juvey, but again no problems and actually did very well with JJs second chance opportunity...

3. Colt was drunk walked into a girls dorm room and apparently didnt leave after the girl told him to because she didnt like his advances upon her... The charges were later reduced and colt didnt get into any trouble... all three situations were not problems after they were given 2nd chances...

If he isn't convicted of anything and SMU doesn't let him back, SMU would be pathetic.
