Re: ESPN's Pat Forde and RecruitingThat is an interesting and sensible article.
Re: ESPN's Pat Forde and RecruitingHe did not spend much time on is coaching (Yu know that makes a difference too). However, Texas and Alabama have had top 2 or 3 classes for the past few years and they played in the national championship game. The thing is you have to put together several good classes in a row. Not just one good class. Texas, Florida and Bama show that. And SMU is staritng to string together some as the 2011 class will be just as if not more important than the 2010 class. I have heard Pat Forde before. He is bias not sensible (unless the reader is bias).

Re: ESPN's Pat Forde and RecruitingPlus you have to compare TCU, Boise and Cinncinnati relative to the teams they play. TCU has better recruiting classes than 90% of the teams on their schedule. Boise beats up on the WAC. The Big East? They didn't have a recruiting class ranked in the Top 25 last time I looked. Recruiting is relative to your competition. When 5-6 SEC teams are in the Top 10 in recruiting-its impossible for every team to win all their games-not to mention that these teams lose more undergraduates to the NFL every year. As good as those teams are there is noway they don't get nicked up in the SEC or Big 12 South(other than 2009). They've proven they can win 70%+ of their games against BCS conference but they don't win them all.

Re: ESPN's Pat Forde and RecruitingGot some sensitive people on here. It's a column. It's not a comprehensive story. This is food for thought and columnists aren't writing to appeal to blandness. They want to stir your reaction. Thus, 86 and the keeper responded like they did.
And that's fine. Personally, I like Forde and his takes run in line with mine. To each their own.
