Ratings: Scout Vs. Rivals

Post by panhandle_pony »

I've always been amused by, in many instances, the disparate rating system between Rivals and Scout. You can find differences of 10 to 20 position rankings all the time. But how in the world do you explain: Wisconsin 32 in Scout and 83 in Rivals; and, Washington State 35 in Scout and 84 in Rivals. Quite a margin of difference.

We've got more problems than rating Scout vs Rivals. We've just lost a major recruit with less than a week before signing day.

If there is a huge outliner it is usually Scout since their analysis is not deep enough into the class. But Rivals has me shaking my head this year too. With Scout they simply discount about half the recruiting pool as if it doesn't exist-fail to update late risers etc., are often out of line with early big shots who never received much actual recruiting attention. And my complaint is directed at their scoring system-not to the local board editors.
