As of a few minutes ago BLM was still on the roster seen on smumustangs.com. His departure was dsicussed / accepted some time back. I thought the new term had started. How long does it take to see corrections to the roster?

Lee (Jackson State)
McNeal (NFL)
Mitchell (Eastern Washington)

Plus ... how many of the guys who were let out of their scholarships last year but won subsequent appeals (Sowe, Goldthorpe, Bon, etc.) are coming off the books this year? I think that's where the extra scholarships will show up.

The "story" that rivals was trying to hype the other day was that a walk-on deep snapper is leaving, but obviously there's no scholarship implications there.

Keaton Palmer left but was not on scholarship.
Jay Angotti decided not to continue with football, obviously Evan, BJ, BLM, Shawnbrey. Sowe is supposed to graduate in May, I believe Jordan Johnson and Taylor Bon are as well. Goldthorpe still had a few years left...That's all I remember...

I asked the question the other day as to what year anyone leaving scholarships counted against and everyone responded by saying 25 was the most we could enroll in any year. Because of that I do not see where any of this kids leaving makes a difference. We have at least 25 recruits, and we are under the 85 limit, so transfer outs do not matter. What matters is whether or not any of this year kids end up ineligible. Am I missing something here? Supposedly if every player on our roster left today, we could still only enroll 25, right?

I thought if we got all 25 to enroll we might be over the 85 limit. The thing I am trying to find out is how many can we enroll this fall without going over the 85 limit?

because there are two limits the 85 and 25. We gave 27 last year BUT 9 didn't show up leaving 18. The greyshirts entering now could be counted for last year-MAYBE-I don't have the list of when they were slotted but assume we sign 28-say 2-3 don't enroll in August because of academic-say we decide that we want to greyshirt for next January about 3 players maybe the kids with ACLs. Then we are definitely under the 25 limit and it would be close on the 85 limit. The KEY is don't pay attention to how many we sign on signing date. The KEY is how many enroll in August and that's all that matters. We have to be under both the 25 man limit and the 85 man limit in Agust but players we are counting may not be around in August to count

I am not certain of that count but I would like to think with the 10 or so we dropped last year, and the few that are leaving this year, and the potential to "run off" a few more we should be well within the 85. I don't ever worry about the 85. I have personally witnessed how coaches can clear out some of the roster if they wish.

We are pretty close on the 85- I tried to figure it out on Rivals. Right now by my unofficial account I got 53 scholarship players plus 3 midterm transfers minus injured reserver players who may or may not return for next semester like Bell, Thomas, Boyd perhaps Fontana and perhaps minus Torlan Pittman. And then remember we don't really do the calculations until August by which time some more may leave

That is what does not worry me. They can make the 85 go down, harshly if necessary. Hopefully it all falls into place without any difficult decisions needing to be made.
