Re: New to SMU - QuestionsI am really looking forward to the co-eds! DC has some talent, but I've heard nothing beats Texas women.
Wake has a solid little fan base, but not many grads stay in the area. Charlotte, Atlanta, and DC are the typical destinations after graduation. I would think a decent number of SMU grads stay in the Dallas area, correct? I understand the basketball situation may be less than desirable. I really have that area covered with Wake and Georgetown allegiances, but I'm sure I'd check out a few games. Texas football is something I'd like to see more than anything. Do y'all know how grad student tickets are offered? Do they usually sit with undergrads or do you buy tickets like any other Dallas resident? I'm sure I'll be back late spring/early summer with living recommendations. I look forward to joining the SMU community! I'd love a PM from any current law students or SMU law alums!
Re: New to SMU - Questions
Grad students can buy a Sports Pack. It's offered on a semester basis and adds a set amount (not sure how much) to your student fees - you buy it when you enroll in classes. I think that will get you into the stadium on a "general admission" basis - don't worry about that as there are usually plenty of good seats that go unused thanks to more people wanting to tailgate than go to the game! Now, you may want to keep your eyes peeled on this board as spring practice begins to get the latest updates on the team. In Texas, there are two seasons: football and spring football. In spring football, we get glimpses of who will step up and be the stars of the upcoming football season.
Re: New to SMU - QuestionsYeah . Spring football is only 2 months away! I for one will be making the trip up for the spring game. Cant wait

Re: New to SMU - Questions
Cutting out the tounges of your enemies? Such savagery. Evidentally you are not from the Iroquouis tribe, as you would instead remove the finger nails of your enemies and chew on the stumps until the bone is made visible. Such is the account of Father Isaac Jogues. Even BM's brother was not as obvious as you are in your multiple handles (Emily Gold, Avimustang, Wild Mare). Rather than complaining you should spend more time attempting to bring your culture into the Bronze Age. Far East Conference

Re: New to SMU - QuestionsDon't worry about the Redskins. Everything in the NFL is cyclical and Jerry Jones is as bad and owner as Daniiel Snyder, so there will be a day in the not to distant future that the Redskins will beat the Cowboys. The good news the Dallas fans are so cocky that they never want points. So, if you find a game where the Redskins are favored at home, you can bet even up and clean up.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Re: New to SMU - QuestionsWelcome to SMU and the law school. You will get a great education. Looking back on my time at the law school all those years ago I realize just how good the education was. At the time all I knew was I worked harder than I ever had in my life. Since then I have never had three years of as consistently hard work as I did while I was in school. That is one reason I thoroughly enjoyed the Saturday break for a football game. The guys on the board answered your questions. Try to meet as many as you can - they are a great group of fans. Look forward to meeting you at the law school tailgate

Re: New to SMU - QuestionsYeah I won't be too outspoken about the Skins. There's really nothing worth watching these days at Fed Ex field, anyways. Besides, it's hockey (Caps) season. Wait, do y'all know what hockey is down there?
![]() I'm assuming the football stadium is on campus? At Wake, the campus was a 5 minute drive from campus, which a lot of visitors didn't understand. Are football games mostly a social scene for undergrads? I've gotten the impression most frat stars don't even make it in to watch the games. Wake was similar in this regard. I'll have more living questions later, but just because I'm browsing locations for apts - what part of Dallas should I hope to live in? I'll probably want to spend around 800/month or less (would have a roommate ideally) and be in walking distance to bars and restaurants and have a 5-10 minute drive to campus. Thanks.
