Hawaii Point of View

Post by tanuki01 »

I went to Hawaii boosters lunch today where Coach Jones went through game tapes.

He complimented SMU's pass defense especially your #1 as the best Hawaii has faced. Your team read the Hawaii QBs eyes well.
Now the negatives.
Hawaii adjusted the run blocking and had a pulling guard on the sweeps. SMU never adjusted to that scheme so Hawaii ran the same play 15 times.
In OT on the 5. Hawaii guessed by the alignment and personnel that SMU was going to pass and called a max blitz 4 times.
Questions?

Whew, I'm embarrassed to be even peripherally associated with those coaches!

Thanks for confirming the obvious....we were out coached.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
