All this Juco DB talk...and one interview on some other site that will go nameless...got me thinking about another Juco corner we signed. I can't remember who it was, but it was the 08 class I think. He boldly stated "I just don't get beat" or some such. Then we went out to UTEP, froze, and watched the guy...well, get beat.
Who am I thinking of? Did he play last year? Did the cold of that night block out any recollection I have?

June Jones has had incredible luck lately in finding JUCO DBs. His entire 2007 Defensive Backfield at Hawaii on the team that finished 11-0 came from Texas JUCOs. See Link-one from Tyler JC, 1 from Trinity Valley JC, and 2 from Blinn JC. Plus he got Sterling Moore last year. The problem sometimes arises when the JUCOs aren't availiable for spring practice and are thrown in the mix without much experience. I wish we could get these JUCOs in earlier-it would pay off http://archives.starbulletin.com/2007/0 ... ory01.html

yeah I bring it out every once in awhile to remind you guys that June Jones has always believed in the Stallion Model.
Plus its true that the posters on this site deserve some recruiting information when it can be obtained from independent sources. Trying to throw them a bone
also Saddleback was the No. 9 JUCO in the country and in fact beat the No. 1 team in the Country Mt. SAC-a game in which Crawford had an interception. Best JUCO football in the country so he was playing against quality competition. All Conference First Team albeit at a Return Specialist. 6 Interceptions 3 Kicks returned for TDs

I personally like him. He doesn't run the claimed 4.35 from what I can see but he has good athleticism, good speed, nice technique, back pedals well, moves his hips well out to turn to the ball, reads the QB well-several examples and closes on the ball well against top JUCO talent, 6 Ints All Conference 3 Kicks returned for TDs. As I mentioned on another board-remember he ain't doing this against 2A kids named Jim Bob from Dry Gulch-there are quality JUCO athletes in his league. I especially like him if Bell can't return because I believe he will be far ahead of a high school kid. Wished he was going through spring practice which might hurt him early-something we really can't afford agsinst Tech and TCU.

wonder who the opponent is in the first couple of highlights. He may not be doing it against 2A athletes from Dry Gulch, but it sure as hell looks like the home of the Ropesville Eagles

Its JUCO Football at its highest level-not some SPC Private School shootout between Cistercian and The Winston School. Who goes to JUCO football games?

Jeff Reinbold was the recruiter for Hawaii on *all* of those Texas JUCOs. JJ didn't have that kind of luck with Texas JUCOs until Reinbold joined the Hawaii staff...
