Big Mo?

Post by RE Tycoon »

I hate to be a downer, but I don't feel like we got the recruiting momentum I thought we would see after having a decent/good season and a big bowl win.

I hope this is due to the fact that we were basically full when we played the bowl game, and we will see the positives heading into the next recruiting season...but didn't we already have a commitment for 2010 at this point last year?

I'm sure the Mo (or lack thereof) will be evident after signing day and the services start focusing on next year.

You answered your own question. The vast majority of our commits jumped onboard prior to the winning. You will see the benfits of the winning season/bowl win reflected in the 2011 recruiting class.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Ben Gottschalk was direct result of the Hawaii Bowl as he stated in a recent interview. Also, getting Kennneth Acker was a good one as well. But as you indicated most of the benefits will come in the 2011 class.

By the way, here is the link to the article regarding the effect the Hawaii Bowl had on Ben Gottschalk.

I have never seen SMU with a commit for the following season's class prior to the signing day of the current season's class. I think last year OGuinn committed end of February but thats was a full couple of months prior to SMU's typical PB first commit (which I think was at best May-June usually). Hell, I don't think Texas and other national powers have announced commits for 2011 yet (could be wrong but I haven't really heard of many, if any).

I think you are knee jerking reacting a bit there, Donald. Simmer down and go catch a men's hoops game- I know you love them!

You're probably worried because the last 3 coaches we had showed recruiting surges right after they were hired and then steady regression until they were fired (and the model's changed). Don't worry, JJ's classes will get better every year.
