"other guy" is still in attendance at games. I'm told the current guy is doing PA because of his "basketball PA experience"

the announcer needs a very clear instruction that there shall be no taunting of the basketball gods. Obviously he has not been around enough to see what can happen.

RGV,
If the new guy has experience, why the announcement jinx, shouldn't he know better? (honest question)

It looked to me like the students gave him the business after he made the "don't rush the court announcement," and his response was a shrug like someone else told him to say it.

It was a close game and the announcement had to be made, when is the best time?

Lastly, I could barely hear the guy. Has that been a problem lately; it has been awhile since I have seen a game.

I am curious about what was said. It would be entirely proper, as it is with the football games, to say, "No one is allowed on the floor until the teams have left the playing area.", or something to that effect. But if he actually said "do not rush the floor", that was not good.

He said something along the lines of "Fans, in order to ensure the safety of the players, please do not rush the court until both teams have cleared the court. If you rush the court before both teams have cleared the court, SMU may have to pay a fine."

That was an unbelieveably stupid move. I thought for sure he had jinxed us, and fully expected to see Memphis hit a big 3 and us start missing free throws. Thank God for Mr. Clutch Derek Williams!

It was more about the timing of his announcement than the content. The game was absolutely not over.
